Keith, same person I have always been and your response typifies why so many no longer post on here.
Maybe I have hit a nerve somewhere, I thought everyone was entitled to give their opinion on this forum as that is what you keep saying.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

I have to say that this petition is a wonderful thing. Having had dealings in the past with 'Fortress Whitfield' and its impenetrable barriers, as did my solicitor, and having read comments on forums by a certain councillor couched in the most patronising and offensive terms you could imagine, I welcome the chance that some of these people might be taken to task. Jan has hit the nail on the head as far as the attitude of the DDC goes, treating the local population like children. How can it possibly harm the development if everything has been done correctly and has been proved at a public meeting ?
What about transparency in government, how can you possibly say that this could be a bad thing ?

Paul (Isles) I don't have an ego, nothing I do is because of an ego.
I'm not concerned about hidden agendas, or misdeeds of DDC as I do not believe there has been any; my main concern is timing and with the CPOs being processed, it is not a good idea at this time.
I'm all for transparancy, we must show that nothing untoward is being/has been done, just not at this time.
Thank you Alan. I share your frustrations at the delay, I just don't think this will help the DTIZ.

I don't see how Keith - if anything, it may have an adverse affect. Businesses don't have to come here - they are the ones with the money and DDC facilitate as quickly and as helpfully as they can, especially the Head of Regeneration.
We can't force developers to develop, unless it can be seen that they are unnecessarily using delaying tactics. If people are using desk-top techniques to search on Dover to see if it is a good place to invest (or not) and see the local planning authority being brought into question, they may well not come here. I'm not saying they will (decide not to come here), but they could.
We're all entitled to a view and this is my view.

the petition was started by a member of the public, ddc officers have complied and put it on their website.
nothing for councillors/politicians to get involved in or make a decision about.
