I can only say what I am thinking,I am fed up with watching all the sites over many years and the fencing going up round them, and still the main ones will have it around them for years to come yet.

As a follow-up to my earlier derogatory posts about the DDC departments charged with the DTIZ site assembly, may I now publicly thank PaulW and Nigel Collor for taking note of my comments, investigating, kicking the appropriate butt and getting the process back on track.

Just a follow up, was talking to one of the workmen earlier, according to him Lidl have sold it to DDC.
Now this gets interesting, how much have they paid and what are the intentions - if they've spent money and intend to do nothing I've got to question the use of public funds.

It's not DDC money, it's done via the regional regeneration agencies such as SEEDA. This is why we now have the indecent haste to get things sorted before SEEDA becomes defunct.

Thanks for that Howard, I guess it confirms what I was told, it seems Peter has another view.
My point is at a time when all we hear is cuts it seems odd that money is being spent without plans being announced, a very strange way of going about things.

according to the national press the government are putting all s.e.e.d.a assets up for sale to the highest bidder.
this has upset many local councils who were hoping to get some of it at knock down prices.

But DDC still end up owning it but not having to pay for it.

We presume the archaeologists will have a good 'go' on the site before things are put up.... perhaps they will find another bronze age boat... or another Roman painted house...

Surely they would take the floor up before any new building work of importance ?

Trouble is Kath when they get round to building it will be too late and there won't be any time. The fact that the perimeter hoarding is being erected on it means that that's all that is going to happen.

If they build on the original footprint of the building, it won't need another archaeological dig.

That's the problem Howard - there probably is a lot more to be found, but it will cost £££M to deal with I expect !!
Been nice knowing you :)
