Yes Paul any reasonable person would have thought that, wouldn't they?
Some time ago Sue took me to task for saying that the district council is officer-led. In terms of planning issues I would go further and say that it is totally officer-dominated. The very fact that you are unaware that your planning officers appear to be trying to thwart the DTIZ site assembly process proves my point. Someone needs to get a grip and bang a few heads together.

Happens to be true Dave.
Not a cop out.
I may well fit your description as minor, but I don't evade issues.

Well said Howard, insults are pointless and negate the argument.
The Planners at DDC have done all they can to facilitate this development, land-ownership has been a major factor in delays - and ASDA too of course.
Things are moving apace, but as PaulW has said, while negotiation are underway, it would be folly to say too much; many things are compromised (including contracts) with loose talk.
I can understand people's cynicism, but it is moving ahead.

No-one doubts your commitment to Dover but if for example I was a prospective investor ,restaurant , coffee shop owner ,etc and asked when was the work going to commence and an estimated date of completion of the site what would be your best estimate and response.

If I gave a timescale and it was lost, you and everyone else would be down on me like a ton of bricks Marek, so I think it would be unwise of me to give a timescale, but I think, much shorter than people would imagine.

How can you say shorter than people would imagine when already we have been waiting for over 30years.

Roger, is there any chance you could give us a hint, for example are you hoping it will be within five years. I do understand if you are unable to reply as you are between a rock and a hard place.

I wouldn't even consider investing in the DTIZ venture if I were in business unless I had some idea of a timescale. It was like that in '78 when I first came to Dover and nothing has changed since other than it's deteriorated further.

Blimey, I've created a storm here with my first post!
My point is that a great deal of money is being spent by somebody, I cant imagine its being spent for no reason and I'm curious to know what's afoot.

Neither Paul,Roger or I can give you a definte time scale .What I can say is that since 1978 DDC have managed to assemble the land so that eventually the building work can commence ,The old MFI site has been the latest development .Gradually the buildings are being demolished .
Some councillors sit on a working group so we do have info which we cannot disclose .

That is the reason for "the storm" David. The powers that be refuse or are unable to tell anyone what is happening.
