There is a new scheme for the DTIZ, not the old ASDA big store attraction, massive car-park all over the site, but now re-creating the old streets, alleyways and lanes in that area - using old maps.
The new architect has some great designs and as I said earlier it will be a good plan for Dover, not a "quick put it up and regret it" one. The thinking has changed, the design is better and more smaller shops than big ones.

Well that sounds great Roger. I just can't understand why they went along with the Asda plan in the first place?
What about connecting it to the beach?

Thank you Roger
, I hope you do not get into trouble for letting the big secret out of the bag.
At last someone has the courage to tell us what the plan is and it certainly seems a good one.

Jan DT1 Roger may be prepared to disclose information but as far as Im concernrd some details are still confidential .Im sure Paul will comment .Elected reps are held to a code. When I was a Cabinet Member I was privy to a lot of confidential material especially on Housing matters .Its for me to know and not to disclose .
I told you to trust me sorry but Im not prepared to disclose matters which are still in the melting pot .

re; post 66
there has been talk of moving the town nearer to the sea front, the possibilty of building a purpose built football stadium down there has been brought up. i can see the logic, the land up at crabble would be sold to developers for housing.
obviously roger can ony say so much but the hints given there sound very promising.

Sometimes, Vic, I think you want the town to remain depressed just to prove you right!

Work is ongoing .The old MFI has been cleared or is that a mirage .I have the paper work Vic and you are wrong. Its a great pity that DDC Officers cannot defend the harsh statements made .

On the contrary Sue, I am sure many officers are very glad that they are not accountable to the people they serve. If they were, they would have to justify their decisions and actions.

That is the trouble, the people are powerless with regard to the unelected at any level of government and they are the ones who can dictate what happens.
Amazing what can get discussed and decided over a business lunch or a round of golf.

Football stadium sounds good. Comes back to what we were saying before. Grass it all over so we have something pleasing on the eye instead of endless decades of dereliction. Wouldn't have to be anything special, Dover Athletic are not Manchester United. Could start off with jumpers for goalposts and the hotdog stall from the precinct to keep Vic and Keith supplied. I may be able to offer some contacts for a small consultancy fee as I now have a direct link to Real Madrid. My niece just got snogged by Ronaldo.

Should we remember that it was a similarly "trained" planning office that looked at the plans for Burlington House and said, "what a good idea"?
No Sue, the demolished MFI site is no more a mirage than the rest of the demolished and derelict site.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

Chris you usually speak a lot of sense .When was Burlington House Built .Since my time at DDC 24 years I have seen a lot of Planning Officers retire or leave .Policies have changed Local Plans rewritten and amended .There are many young officers in our Planning dept recently trained etc .Planning Committees come and go .
Vic of cause a fence will go up otherwise we will get squaters going in there.
Work is going on in Maison Diue Road behind the fence .New homes for local people .
I will defend the planning Office when they are right .Not so the Big Screen Knife edge decision made by the commitee .
Buckland Mill watch this space .
