A live opera event is coming to the Big Screen in Dover Market Square on Tuesday (8 June) from 6.45pm - when Gareth Malone from BBC's The Choir will lead the BP Summer Big Screens Carmen Sing Along live from Trafalgar Square.

UK Border Agency officers in Dover have charged a 59-year-old lorry driver with drug smuggling. Ralph Cross, of no fixed abode, has been remanded in custody after appearing at Folkestone Magistrates Court today where he did not enter a plea.

A live opera event on the Big Screen in Dover Market Square yesterday (8 June) has been welcomed as a success after around 150 people came along to enjoy The Royal Opera House's performance of Carmen - with people travelling from various parts of Kent for the special broadcast.
750,000 Cigarettes Discovered In Lorry

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) Officers at Dover are carrying out an investigation following the discovery of 750,000 cigarettes concealed amongst cans of cola in the back of a lorry. The revenue evaded on the goods was approximately £140,000.

An exciting and creative new play area for Kearsney Abbey in River was officially opened this week. The new-look play area has been extended with exciting new equipment and features. The high quality design was developed in consultation with the local community, including River Primary School.
