Snow Warden scheme reopened to help communities keep moving this winter

With winter getting closer, a volunteer Snow Warden scheme has been reopened by Dover District Council today.
Snow Wardens are volunteers from the local community who give up their spare time to help clear snow and spread grit on footpaths near their homes during bad weather.
Community groups benefit from grants of more than £22,000

Community groups in the area are set to benefit from more than £22,000 funding from Dover District Council in the latest round of the Neighbourhood Forum Community Grants Scheme. Funding totalling £22,980 was allocated by the Grants Appraisal Panel, which was made up of the District Councillors who chair the five Neighbourhood Forum areas, and was approved by Cabinet yesterday.
LoveDover charity looking for commercial operator for Market Square premises

The trustees of LoveDover, the charity set up to help regenerate parts of the town, are looking for people to operate from a building in the Market Square once it has been refurbished. They are looking for an individual or organisation who would be interested in leasing the ground floor and basement of what is currently Dickens Corner for a commercial use, but also fitting in with the charity's aims of providing training facilities for residents of Dover.

Communities thanked for success of Knitted Poppy Appeal

A big thank you is being sent out to all the knitters who provided fantastic support for the area's Knitted Poppy Appeal. Over a thousand poppies were delivered to local collection points and helped to make a giant poppy carpet, which featured in a range of events as part of the remembrance commemorations in Dover District.
