Register for e-billing with DDC and you could win £1,000

Tuesday, 31 January 2017
Dover District residents who register to receive their council tax bill by email are now in with a chance of winning £1,000. The competition is running as part of the council’s drive to encourage residents to take advantage of the benefits of paperless billing.

To be in with a chance of winning, go to www.dover.gov.uk/paperless and complete the online registration by Friday 31 March. One lucky resident will be selected at random from all registrations across Dover, Canterbury and Thanet districts.

Paperless billing helps the council save money by reducing the cost of sending out council tax invoices. It costs approximately £1 per household to send out a paper bill, so by encouraging more residents to sign up, the council can save more money, which can be spent on supporting other services.

Cllr Michael Conolly, DDC Cabinet Member for Corporate Resources and Performance said: "Paperless billing is an important way forward that helps residents to keep track of their documents, and helps us to protect resources for the future. Less paper means that we can help to protect the environment, save money, and provide more efficient and effective services for residents."

The £1,000 prize draw is being run by East Kent Services, which provides services including council tax administration to Dover District Council, Thanet District Council, and Canterbury City Council. The cost of the prize will be covered by the ongoing savings made by the increase in the number of people registering to receive paperless council tax billing.
