time for me to back out, have tried to instigate debate but peter is clearly not interested.
the fact is that ukip members/supporters/sympathisers have out numbered all the other parties supporters together on here over the last 5 years yet seem unable to distance themselves from the jibes of dave who called them all date and walnut cakes.

UKIP are not coming out of this discussion very well are they, maybe that is because they have no local policies to discuss.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Jan, they might not be doing well on the forum but this isn't where votes are cast, if you look at the figures below for just two of the seats at the county elections compared to the 2010 General Election when it was 1,747 for the whole constituency then they seem to be on the up. (Of course doesn't mean that will be repeated)

It must be common knowledge before long that the UKIP candidate for Dover West came very close to winning, and that Vic did his best to make him lose, for the purpose of making a Conservative candidate win.
Dear Vic, this should exonerate you from standing as a future UKIP candidate.
Technically you are an ally of the Tories and an opponent of UKIP,
Of-course that's your free decision and I'm not criticising.
But if you stand as a candidate in the future, you will have to either do so in your own name, or as a Tory party member.

The above post is dead right I did stand to stop UKIP geting Dover West, because Mr Lymer was the very best person to help the public of Dover West and the local parishs in that ward IT had nothing to do ,in trying to get my own backand all that kind of rubbish or what party Mr Lymer is in,it is about the person himself having worked with him and seeing how hard he works for the Dover West and in Gen / for Dover as a District cllr. He will not keep to any party lines if he feels it will not help the public. He is the best of the best if you know him you will also know why I am supporting him.As for standing next time which you know I done before it is wait and see I have no wish to stand again and in the pass I have said it just for a wind up,but I have in the pass paid out and took on all partys by standing on my own,the first time with a very big cost, last time it was UKIP but as they will find out if they are still there when the next election comes round they will have to find the money themself to stand they will not get anyhelp or not much from their HQ so I hope they are well off and are willing ready to put their own money into the party again we had to last time and my committee at the time on UKIP was a great help to me because they and myself but mosty them found the money ourselfs, but I do hold a small amount of UKIP funds which I will only give to their local office,I was told many times to send it off to their HQ they evencame round for it,but I said no because if I had handed it over THE local office would never have got it,it was collect by my members at that time so in must stay in Dover, that is the outline of it all. As you know I have even asked them come and see me to talk about it because I do not have any email address to talk to them so the only way was on the forum anyway I have nothing to to say that the public should not hear. I have always been out in the open. But all they have done is keep running me down etc that is not a good start. And even I cannot just take the money out and hand it over if I did I could have the law down on me,so it will end up just situing there for ever must say it is not a big amount so no real lost.end.

Well it looks like the next election here will be the General Election (ignoring the European elections).

clearly looking at post 546 gives the reason why no one should vote UKIP
or in fact ever to vote for him as he not a real candidate, just as he says trying to stop others winning!!!
noyt to win himself
so a vote for him is a vote lost!!!

In what way do you come to the conclusion that somebody saying that they stood in a previous election in order to deny votes to UKIP serves as a reason for the electorate not to vote UKIP in a future election?

Clearly ed(noting your support for UKIP)
the post is clear 546 as to how disorganised the local branch is, or in fact is there 2 branchs??
the poster still thinks hes a member(and has membership card?)
he also has there funds (strange way to operate)
the local branch appears to have split and in turmoil.
but lets look to some positives in my usual fair way,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
In the push at the previous county elections im sure, had UKIP done some door knocking/been around/worked in the area prior to election etc the could have won 1 or maybe even both the Dover Town seats.
Instead they left it to hope, were never around, and still are not
slowly but surely people are seeing they are just another small protest party run by one person
will they last or go just as others have?

Howard;
I think the opposite, UKIP like other protest parties come and go#
The conservatives are making sure just in case they survive till 2015 that they let people know voting UKIP might let in labour.
I think now they have come under scrutiny(allowances at KCC) Type of cllrs they have
people are now realising the protest was one thing, now they will go back to the main 2 ;parties or not vote at all
reality

UKIP votes locally -
2001 General 1142
2005 General 1252
2010 General 1747
2013 KCC 6757 (total vote in the 4 out of 5 seats they contested)
In 5 years between between the last two GEs raised their vote by about 500, in the next 3 years to KCC elections their vote rose by about 5,000

I thought I'd found a website to explain Reg's closet obsessions but apparently it's more for the ladies
