most people will have already made there mind up by the time leaflets come through
you will find at election time people get fed up of leaflets#
3 from labour
2 from tories
then other parties in some parts of ward may get one out
a lot of leaflets
most people hate the4 week period and all the leaflets
the leaflets convince few people

It was a by-election, Howard.
Vic stood for the Town and possibly several village wards.
I covered the town with leaflets, but not all of it, as Vic turned down an offer from UKIP head office for 5,000 more free leaflets.
That would normally be called electoral auto-exclusion.
Vic received 400 town votes at a low turnout, he could have more than doubled that with 5,000 more leaflets.
He was poorly advised by his campaigning team, who not only didn't bother taking part in any canvassing, but did not advise him to take UKIP's free offer.

Keith, your advice on leaflets is very cheap indeed.
Do you believe I'd fall for that?

At that time the local UKIP even that I was chairman voted not to take part in the local elections so yes Mr Alexander D did come out with myself going door to door and he done well,as for the leaflets being free it was the very first time that the HQ had helped in this way but I think if I had taken the second 5000 I would have had to pay for them. But my then my legs and myself said call it aday. The costs of leaflets even good ones are not high but it is the taking them around not many want to take part in that.

Quite a lot to reply to here so here we go,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Alexander;
on the leaflets, as i explained, most people already have an idea who they are voting for not many )if any)change there mind because of a leaflet.
As i said the major parties flood the electorate but it doesnt make that much difference.
And every election i hear people moaning about the number of leaflets they get.
On the head office offering more free leaflets, blimey that should have been jumped at, it doesnt take that long to deliver 500
but hey thats up to the person if they want a slim chance of increasing there vote.
of course as iv said before, if candidates are active in a ward they dont need the leaflets
Peter R
Iv tried to look at your ex member(who has a membership card for 2013 so he says) in a balanced way
the problem he appears to have is the dosh given by locals if given to the national party would not end up in Dover
I do fully understand that.
So he has, as iv said options;
1l give the people back the unspent dosh divide equally among them explaining why the money didnt get spent
2; send the money to head office after getting the agreement to do so by the contributors
3; send the money to the local branch9i realise he has issues with this so may not be an option for him)
4;just send the dosh to head office.
I don't like holding other peoples dosh, if it was me i would have, a long time ago gone to the contributors explaining
why money still there and distributed it equally among them, if any or all agreed i would send it to head office
after all its UKIP they want elected not a person.
but hey, as they say, everyones different
nice though peter your warming to me lol
we may disagree politically and we will, but thats politics, im not here to agree that UKIP is wonderful as i dont think they are, and will question them.
but if i can help ex members i do try(or is it present members???) bi of a mystery there lol

AS i said they could have taken my membership away but that did not happen my membership does not runout till feb of next year.it was 5000leaflets but we had already done well over 10,000by then I had already done alot before I was told that HQ were going to help.Anyway that is all in the pass now, there are other issues beween UKIP and myself at this time I have already said to much about it all so it ends now and see what happens. As for my support at the next Gen election I just do not know yes I could go for it again hard to say how I would get on but noway would I win + it is the cost again ,I just do not know what I will do if anything my thinking now is if I was voting IT might be UKIP but would need to see and know the person who they are going to put up ,but can tell you it would not be the reds like others on the forum I did not like the way that they closed the door on a man standing for MP I still do not know why they done that.

I think i have explained the claire saga
on the posters 5,000 leaflets i think thats great, more so if alexandrr was willing to distribute the free leaflets.
thats a lost opportunity.
on the money, i think i have explained what i would have done a long time ago.
obviously the dispute about whos a member and who isnt will have to be fought out by the posters concerned

Does anyone on here really mind if Vic is still an official member of UKIP or not, I know I don't, but any money that belongs to them should be returned as soon as possible otherwise I would have thought it could be viewed as theft.
Vic why not post off a cheque to the value of the money you keep saying you hold to UKIP head office requesting they forward it to this local group, it is your duty to return it not for anyone to collect it.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Jan
Again you have said what i have been saying in many posts
maybe as you said it
he might i say might take notice
on the question of membership
in normal circumstances your correct no one would be interested who is/is not a member
but this poster has both stood for UKIP then stood against them
so those wishing to vote UKIP would want to know they are voting for a true UKIP person
not one that stands in his own interests
and worse stands against the ukip party.
im sure UKIP has a policy on such issues and he wouldnt be able to stand for ukip in the future

the purpose of the main parties leafleting is to remind people of an upcoming election and urge their continued support.
different with ukip, i think people would read their tracts carefully to find out their policies and overall philosophy.

Sorry what you are asking me to do cannot by law be done that is the issue,I have never been against UKIP but it is the way they work from their HQ and how they work ,it is because they are underman and need more staff ,which they might have now I do not know.As for standing again for them or myself is at this time not on the books.

I think you will find under UKIP rule W1.11(d)
you are no longer able to stand as a UKIP candidate again
or maybe peter R can clarify

Most people who vote, Keith, only do so if they get a leaflet explaining to them a reason to do so.
Candidates who don't give out leaflets are very unlikely to be voted.
People usually want to vote a local person.

I can say , with some certainty, that if one party standing for election does NOT leaflet, someone on here will complain that they do not have any information about them!
