You can only go by the voting on the day
The last time round all the parties lost voting numbers,
except ukip
Why do you think people will suddenly start voting conservative or labour?
When all you have to offer is more of the same???? 3 Old party failures.

I agree the "3 Old Party failures" to use your words offer little new, I suspect come the next election UKIP will most probably offer the similar but couched in different words.

Reg, I wasn't under the impression I was supporting UKIP with my earlier posts, in fact I had a go at their policies on foreign aid and gay marriage. I just didn't think they warranted being compared to the NSDAP!
I'm quite enjoying not being aligned to any particular party; means I don't have to worry about sticking to a party line (not that I feel I ever did all that much).
Alex; I've got no problem with you following your Christian faith. Nobody is asking you to get involved in a gay marriage! But the problem with religion is that it so often seems to lead people to think it entitles them to a say on how other people, who may not believe in that religion, live their lives. Seems really strange to me.
Happy to lay my cards on the table as a complete atheist, so using religious arguements when you are debating things with me is pointless! If someone can explain to me the problem with a gay couple getting married, without recourse to arguments that rely on religion/God/gods, then I'm all ears. But it would be totally off topic so if you want to maybe start another thread (unless there already is one?).

let's throw this in the mix of debate, the interesting part is where it is suggested that the big two are looking at repatriation of powers which would throw the whole issue of staying in or getting out.

andrew
the issue of gay marriage has not had a thread here, most people were of the opinion that it was of little importance set against all the problems the country was facing and therefore merely a total distraction.

Hi Andrew
Ukip are apposed to gay marriage in church ,this will probably change in time .
I personally am not bothered, up to you .
I think the Religions are apposed to it because in the bible it says Adam and eve not Adam and Steve

Still 6 times we have no response about the UKIP leader who in the election manifesto made it clear cllrs allowances was something they swill sort out.
given the first opportunity to do they failed,
didn't even raise a debate on it, instead they wanted more!!!!
On the issue of Gay marriage, Alexander obviously has his religious beliefs, but like Andrew says its for each individual to chose,
Keith B shows why there is a problem with the last 12 words of his last post
Also we can all(keith b) say a party may not support this and that in the future
at the moment(with no plans to change) they oppose gay marriage

Andrew, I do not recognise any so called "marriage" between people of the same gender.
And I openly state - and will continue to do so - that marriage is only between a man and a woman.
This could, later on, have implications, if Parliament passed a law that changes the meaning of marriage (trying to change the vocabulary). I could be prosecuted for discrimination and taken to Court.
As I would not renege anyway, I would base my case on the fact that I cannot be persecuted on account of my Christian Faith. This alone would save me from prison.
So it is a very important issue.

a lot of statistics being bandied about but getting back to the county council elections ukip wiped the floor with the leading parties in thanet and shepway but failed miserably in royal dover and deal -the question on everyone's lips is why?

that's the problem brian
I have tried to point out to Alexander (as Andrew has) no one has an issue with alexander having strong religious beliefs
the problem comes when its rammed down everyones throats that alexander is the only correct way
your correct brian gays should have same rights to live the life they wish

Keith and Brian, if the day comes that someone tries ramming down my throat that I am committing a hate crime or discrimination by stating that marriage is only between man and woman, and tries taking me to Court, just forget it!
Then you will simply have to dial 999!
And believe me, if Parliament goes ahead with this weird proposal, that day will come, because I will continue to publicly state that marriage is ONLY between man and woman.
I will not be throat-rammed!
