Conservative Party: Herd's restive; some jumped the fences. What now?
DC: I do OUTSIDER cowboy LARP, head them off at the pass, drive them to the new pen.
Conservative Party: Done, Dom.

They wore New Labour's nearly-new hand-me-down, and it was a perfect fit for a while. Then the shine faded and the stitching unstitched and they discovered the suit was actually a shroud. They can't take it off, as there's a corpse inside. So they're tailoring a covering armour of soft plastic dipped in silver paint.

So, Nadine Dorries has finally resigned. About time, having stolen a living for well over one year. The cheek!

I feel Neil we are all aware the Tory party is going to lose next general .
The fear is (and your still all for it)
To be replaced by same Tory policies at least two years ,
Anti union
Anti workers
Etc
So can't see what all the excitement about

You really can't better this description from Ian Dunt:-
'Full regalia of modern Tory batshittery in Dorries resignation later: deep-state conspiracy theory gibberish, preening self-regard, constitutional illiteracy & a refusal to take any responsibility for her actions or those of the govts she's served in.'

I don't believe we'll have a Labour government replicating Tory policies. I accept that it may not be as left leaning as you would like, Keith, but I think you might be pleasantly surprised in the end.

Neil
I'm determined to get your true thoughts .......
So, we will probably be ending up with Starmer , even I accept the Tories are making themselves unelectable , I'm suspecting they want a term out of office to regroup .
But in its place Starmer already announced no changes for two years of CONSERVATIVE main policies
No sorting out of the utility companies ripping us all off.
Continued support of even the awful privatised companies .
No changes on water companies polluting .
Broad church of membership in place since formation , disappeared overnight with Starmer .
Anti union
Anti workers
Above is just a slice of what's to come , (or in Starmers case, not to come )

My true thoughts, at this point, extend only to Labour replacing the Tories. Like you, I have an ideological perspective but am also pragmatic enough to understand that we won't see sweeping changes overnight. Labour has been honest about that. As an absolute minimum, it will be pleasing to see the end of Tory cronyism and the advancement of their various donors and sponsors. A level playing field will return.
