They had their ears closed to anyone other than the Tufton Street mafia. Paid the price. Their own madness brought them down. Self inflicted.

When the Tory rags were trumpeting the mini-budget's success with headlines like "at last a real Tory budget" and before the predictable market aftershocks had really set in, Kwarteng was doing the media rounds trumpeting its success and ludicrously espousing a "you ain't seen nothing yet" message. Just another charlatan product of this Tory era, directly and demonstrably responsible for the pain and distress so many are currently suffering.

There are three categories of pensioner.
Those who struggle on their basic government pension, which has never been enough and has always been the case regardless of whichever party is in power.
Those with a some money spare after all bills are paid because they were careful all their lives and saved or have a small private pension.
Those who have private income and can live just as they choose with no or very few worries.
Senior citizens also realise that they will have to be treated like everyone else who will loose out because of this financial situation caused by the pandemic and Putin's war like actions.

I think Jan it's the first category who are also probably frail and less able to help themselves that we should be looking at these days of cutbacks .

No reaction at all to yesterday's disaster recovery budget. Sorry - fiscal event. I wonder why.
Well, Jeremy Hunt has finally revealed his long-awaited autumn statement amid a flurry of news about staggeringly high inflation and recession warnings from the Bank of England. Millions are set to pay more tax as a result of the plan at the same time the Office for Budget Responsibility’s independent analysis of the UK economy is predicting the biggest fall in living standards the UK has ever seen over the next two years.
Good to see our tradition of sound governance coming to the fore once again.

Crikey. Even the Saj has decided to throw his hand in. Wonder if he was waiting for the Chester result to confirm his decision. Not exactly a loss to the country.

I don't think Labour can base it's fortunes on Chester .
It's a good result to secure the seat.
But it's winning some of the Tory seats they need to be winning .
I'm still thinking it will be a hung parliament. Even though the Tories appear to have given up

I have it on good authority that the Enough Is Enough party is going to romp home.
