“Dad, is it true that the Chinese can hack our phones?”
“No son, it’s all nonsense”

For once we agree! The fact is that any unprotected mobile device can be compromised relatively easily. Pegasus is at the pinnacle of hacking technical expertise. I don't know if it was used in this case. Since they're supplied with security service devices which would resist probably even quantum attacks, the issue here is why certain ministers appear to find it necessary to revert to personal devices for communications both written and oral.

Hm! Very subtle on the part of the security services, don't you think? And so plausible too.

Oh yes! I ALWAYS go for the conspiracy rather than the cock-up.

A lot of politics being played in the Home Secretary re-appointment.
While the country crumbles

The reason the Home Secretary is under such scrutiny is because she's only there to keep the right of the party quiet for five minutes. There's no other reason.
A pattern is emerging that Sunak is quite weak. Look at COP27, he clearly decided to make a big fuss of not going to distract the right from his earlier decision to outlaw fracking. Now he is going to have to U turn on that as well as it's not tenable to not be at a meeting where global leaders will all be present.

Funny that Prime Minister was not at COP25, or the one before that, or the one before that.
(Hint - Heads of state tend to attend COP meetings every five years - hence Paris Agreement was at COP21.).
Good news is sister's boyfriend is on all expenses trip to this one and having a PADI certificate is hoping to get a load of diving in. Winner!
(I see the Doom Goblin is skipping it too

Doom Goblin? How do you refer to David Attenborough - nonagenerian nincampoop, perhaps? Maybe if you listened you would find that they're both saying the same things. Oh well. I'll bow to your greater wisdom and perception.

Whoops! Meant daughter's boyfriend.
He actually met Attenborough and Prince Charles last year. Since it was still the time of COVID he says he didn't talk too much to Attenborough as he thought if he gave him COVID and it killed him no-one would ever forgive him.

Neil
We will probably agree here , in not sure how long Sunak can play out this unstable govt.
To many divisions , if only there was a credible alternative

I am no fan of Braverman but I am fed up will the continual highlighting and complaints about the word 'invasion' how else or what would you call 1000 boat people arriving from France in one day.
I remember back in the 90's when we knew an immigration officer who was based in Croydon complaining he did not have enough staff. Back then immigration was not really an important news item until all the Tom, Dick and Harry undesirables arrived from the EU countries giving a bad name to all the genuine and more importantly wanted immigrant workers.
In my opinion we should definitely return the many illegal Albanian boat people or even fly them straight to their own country, surely there can be no legitimate reason to allow them to stay.

Proof, if ever it were needed, that some honesty, decency and humanity still exists in those tiny pockets of what remains of the Tory party.

Maybe you should consider visiting Ukraine, Jan. There
is an invasion going on there.

Nah. Go to Albania. Almost empty and low crime as all the criminals have moved over here.
(Anyone else find it odd when people are more worried about use of the word 'invasion' than the invasion itself?)

The first and most frequently used definition in most reputable dictionaries:-
"An instance of invading a country or region with an armed force".

A bit like apparently we no longer describe Columbus as 'discovering' America yet I can discover a rather exclusive eaterie in North Deal?
I believe Alice had something to say on the matter ....

A different sort of invasion.
Taking your point Putin and his cronies would not call it an invasion, which just shows how one simple word can be used in various ways when trying to make a point.

So there's the U turn, as predicted. My next prediction: he'll try and fudge it and do it in some bonkers day trip and end up looking even more ridiculous as he U turns on that as well.
