And stood for Labour in Canterbury in the 97 election.
And an even wierder local connection I found on reading up and reminiscing about the program "In the penultimate episode, Wolfie's full name was revealed as Walter Henry Smith - W H Smith" - one time Lord Warden and Constable of Dover Castle.

Cross posted with Vic there.
I don't think we'll give up on this thread because first it was confusing, then it was frustrating, then it was aggravating but now we're just having fun

Ray, at the last election held in Britain, UKIP came second!
Does this ring a bell?
Prior to that, the highest post was held by Dover, where UKIP had come third.

Alex, there are already several UKIP councillors, surely they must have got in by coming first or are they all using Vic's method of subterfuge?

vic
you seem very busy posting the ukip manifesto, nowhere do we see what your plans are to make life a bit better in the four parishes that you actually represent.

A pregnant woman on the tube at rush hour has more chance of getting a seat than Vic and UKIP.

Marek, nice one
Keith, he's already been around, going to sort out our noticeboards (discussed already at parish council two meetings ago) and our potholes (thought that was Nigel's job
).
But it would be nice to find what other plans someone from outside the village has to improve our lot, I'm not completely against a fresh outlook IF it's sensible.

RAY
I'm coming round to the idea that vic either doesn't understand what posters are telling him, or he is just blindly going on no matter what.
for the future it's no prob of UKIP looking to what it can do across the country for local govt.
but in Dover there are NO UKIP candidates
you cant hoodwink the general public.

I just worry that some people will get hoodwinked on the doorstep when they see the literature, don't forget a lot of people don't even know the interent exists never mind this forum!
Maybe he's behaving like Pavlov's dog - it's election time, must start canvassing.

he does not have the right to put on his INDEPENDENT leaflet anything to do with UKIP AND HAVING as a dover ukip branch member outvoted vic
would be annoyed if he promoted ukip on his leaflets when hes not a candidate fir them.
its probably illegal as well;
vic wont do many leaflets as he has to pay For them himself
as no backing from UKIP

A man walks into a pet shop to buy a monkey. The first one he is shown costs £300.
"Blimey thats a bit pricey" the buyer says. "Yeah but he can make a cup of tea and bring it to you".
In the second cage was a monkey costing £500. "What can he do?" the man enquires.
"He can answer the phone and take messages".
In the final cage the monkey was priced at £5k. "My God what does he do?"
"I don't know" said the pet shop owner.
"Well, I haven't actually seen it do anything, but it says it's a Welding Inspector.

Howard, I was referring to the copies of the UKIP manifesto that Vic was offering in post #1, seems such a long time ago now.
