You posted on here about that a few years ago Paul, you knocked on the bungalow door of a Mr Scargill but were unable to gain his promise to vote for you.
Going off at a tangent back in the 50s the Tories put up an idiot son from the landed gentry in a Barnsley seat, he knocked on one door the wife opened it to reveal her husband sitting in a tin bath with his face covered in coal dust. The candidate apologised for his intrusion by saying " I am awfully sorry, I hadn't realised you were dressing for dinner".

GEe:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-50221856, I can hardly wait. Deciding who to vote for is going to be really, really tricky -
but, once I've decided and all the votes are in, I don't want to hear anything about this 'are you really sure, wouldn't you like to have another vote' business. If you don't want my opinion, don't blooming well ask for it!

They ask for your opinion Button because that’s how the voting system is set up.
Under the recently evolved Parliamentary system MP’s are likely to try to change the result when they disagree with it. It’s ‘simples’ really as they ask you what you want and then you may, after many playground antics, get what they want!
Some MP’s, probably keen to save time doctoring the result, are now suggesting that 16 year olds and people from other European countries should get a vote too.
Concern was expressed by some on the cost and time needed to set this up, which means that they would probably miss any snap election called for December.
There is a cheaper method:
Us oldies cannot be trusted to vote for the ‘correct’ candidate so if you have a postal vote they could possibly be allocated to the local school 16 year olds who I’m sure could remember where the X should go!
If you vote at the local polling station it could feature a queue of young multinational helpers to show you where to put your X........a no brainier!

Or we could end up with the red 'I am all right sitting in the lap of luxury with all the perks I get' cloth cap brigade.
Let's be honest this Brexit mess has proved far to many MPs really only care about themselves and coming a close second their party leader's ideals.

I wonder if there'll be a Conservative candidate in Philip Hammond's and Ken Clarke's constituencies.

And I wonder if there will be a Conservative candidate in 'our' Charlie's?

From the FT.
Nigel Farage’s Brexit party is considering whether to pull out of hundreds of seats in Britain’s forthcoming general election, in what could prove a game-changer to prime minister Boris Johnson’s hopes of winning a parliamentary majority.
The insurgent party, which supports leaving the EU without a deal, is deciding whether to contest all of Britain’s parliamentary seats — as pledged by Mr Farage when he formed the movement earlier this year — or concentrate its efforts on a much smaller number of targeted constituencies in Brexit-supporting areas.
Pollsters have cautioned that if the Brexit party runs a full slate of candidates, Mr Farage could split the Leave vote in scores of marginal seats, undermining Mr Johnson’s pro-Brexit Conservative party and potentially handing victory to pro-Remain candidates from Labour or the Liberal Democrats. But if the Brexit party narrows its focus to Leave-supporting seats currently represented by Labour MPs, it could significantly help the Tories.

I hope the Brexit Party will not be the cause of yet another no clear majority government.
At the moment I am not really interested in the rest of the country, I just want to know who will be standing in Dover. I will not vote for any party that announces it will not take us out of the EU.
