No-one is more misguided than those who would the government spend, spend, spend, regardless of the effect on the economy. We have seen how Labour's spending frenzy drives the economy into the ground in every period of Labour government that we have been cursed with. I have said it many times, spendthrift policies are a curse on those who need help as is an expectation of an endless flow of benefits.

barry, there are two [2] kinds of misguieded, those who spend to much and those who cut to far.at the moment there is no middle ground.

Brian.
That is absolutely correct and we will never get anywhere until a bit of maturity is shown on all sides and we start working together on the problem.
All the time this stupid tit-for-tat politics continues will we slip further into the mire.

Maturity? What can be more mature than balancing your spending? Immature fools are the ones who keep spending more and more while in debt, or politicians trying to buy votes.
The mature thing would be proper spending cuts, tax cuts and supply side reforms all to reduce the burden on business so it can get on and rebuild the economy.
There is no middle road, that is what Osborne is trying and it is not enough.

"The Financial Services Authority awaits its £160m share of the fines imposed on UBS for Libor manipulation, to add to the £151m already levied on errant financial institutions in 2012. According to the FSA, such fines are used to reduce fees for members in the following financial year, which means that the financial business community effectively shares the loot out (the larger institutions receiving the largest rebate). As their wrongdoing has usually robbed the public, shouldn't the fines be used to benefit the public, by providing start-up funds for small businesses, maybe?
