The UK is still divided between the haves, and have nots,
ionAt one end people getting millions whether they do well or not
at the other we find those that don't know where the next meal is to come from

.....Then there's the 90+% who are somewhere in between.

Keith:
People paid millions: probably 0.1 percent (1 in 1000)
People who really don't know where their next meal is coming from: perhaps 1 in 100 (1%)
Therefore those in between : 98.9 pct.
Actually, strictly speaking I don't know where my next meal is coming from. I've got some nice venison fillet in the fridge, there's a nice little bistro down the road, and the Farnham Tandoori is just across the street. I just can't make up my mind.

To me that comment comes across as sarcastic and unnecessary Keith, after all it is New Year and the time for goodwill and all that.

# 1867.......Rich-Poor divide UK.......`wider than 40 years ago`.....Cameron`s government commissioned report........
& # 1869........It appears in the New Year of 2013 the supercilious `few` are consistent in their ``I`m alright jack,
pull up the drawbridge``.....who cares who is on hard times attitude........................sleep easy....?

Welcome to the KS and RH Appreciation Society, who ever posts first the other agrees.
Seems I have my stirring hat on again, sorry all that's one of my New Year resolutions gone already.

We had the venison. Char-grilled barking rare with a mushroom, fresh thyme and chestnut cream sauce, dauphenoise potatoes, glazed carrots and broccoli. But I still don't know where the next meal will come from.
New year resolution: whenever possible, take the p155 out of the socialists who wrongly believe that:
1. They have a monopoly on social conscience.
2. Equality of opportunity is the same as opportunity of outcome.
3. You can make the poor richer by making the rich poorer.
4. The Monarchy is a waste of space.
5. Two Eds are better than one, or, preferably none.
6. Gordon Brown is free of blame.
7. The EU is worth belonging to.
8. You can achieve integration by denying the differences between cultures rather than by celebrating them.
9. Promoting equality is superior to promoting excellence.
PS GaryC and DT1 specifically exempted.

I'll go along with those Peter. Champagne socialists seem to be the worst.

Thanks Peter. Took my Dad for a New Year pint today, down at your place. Great as it was (Canterbury Ale), it was missing your presence. Happy New Year to Kathryn, yourself and your family. I really miss you guys, gems in Dover.
Roger, nice to see you today.
In terms of 'Champagne Socialists' - I got accused of being one last night by one of these millionaire capitalist types, that gave me the champagne in the first place! I pointed out that I was more of a 'Prosecco Socialist' ...affordable for all and as a result more suitable to share!
PS. Peter, in the spirit of dialectic: would you please explain point #2 in relation to point #4.

Darren, I think #9 may be relevant there.

Not according to Michael Gove.
I think our future heir would not suit his definition of 'excellence'. Excellence is different to all individuals surely?
Maybe Michael Gove is secretly a socialist? Didn't he strike once?
