Quite amusing the caption when Charlie on TV is indy
I presume Friday the wheels will be in motion to protect Charlie
Triuble is although not often enough, he has rocked the boat which could be his down fall
We will see friday

Not sure what you mean by that Keef.
I have no insight into the details of the accusations or Charlie's version of events but the CPS must have thought there was a 'case to answer' with a reasonable chance of conviction.
This does not of course mean that Charlie is guilty of anything.
All I hope is that he he has a good legal team to defend him and that at the end of the trial justice is seen to be done one way or the other. I would hope for the same for anyone faced with such accusations.

Bob
Whilst I put those Early words in mercury on a fair trial
. The legal system does little to give you confidence
There are so many examples (often because of a weak legal system)
No one really knows about the ins and outs of Charlie case.
But money often talks like you say he has a good legal team

Looks like an election is coming (if Corbyn is daft enough to facilitate it). That's not good news for Charlie.

Presumably, as he's appearing at Westminster Magistrates' Court, Friday's business will be a preliminary hearing only: if the chief beak refers it to Crown Court it'll be a few more weeks before the trial.

Correct. Trial expected in Jan. Either Southwark or Old Bailey.

If there were to be an election on 14 October, any ideas who the Tory candidate might be?

I doubt it, Brian. The good Cap'n needs to preserve what little influence he has left amongst the diehard local Tories.

I do hope Charlie will stand as a Conservative

Depends whether Boris has an electoral pact with the Brexit Party or not.
Highly unlikely Charlie would be nominated unless the CPS decides at the last minute to withdraw charges at his court appearance on Friday. (Still possible although unlikely).
Without a pact with Nigel Farage, it could be anyone parachuted in.
With a pact, it could even be Nigel himself........

The only way Charlie could stand is if the whip is returned and as Pablo says, that's entirely dependent on the charges being dropped. The subsequent question is whether he would stand as an independent, I guess?

It is all rather interesting inasmuchas 'our' Charlie is still backed by the local association as their preferred candidate.
The same happened a few years ago in Slough with Adrian Hilton where CCHQ 'sacked' the whole local association to impose their own candidate!
Here's Adrian's version of events.
(N.B. I am not a member of the Conservative Party either locally or nationally having resigned due to 'artistic differences last year.)

The example given by the Captain shows exactly why a large majority of the public are completely disillusioned with MPs, Westminster, political parties of any colour and even our so called democracy.
Whichever party is in so called power, be it Tory or Labour, we now seem to be governed by a few career politicians who really have little interest in anything that does not benefit them.
