Ray: I think as you do...
- the port has done as much as it can and has a track record of coping with stuff that statutory authorities throw at it, but
- everyone needs to know what the stuff is going to be this time and
- we've found it necessary to tell you this again (because you still ain't listening).

What with Boris and his sudden love for public sector workers and Jeremy (Hunt not) promising wonders for our fishermen and farmers, it seems that the magic money tree is being given a damn good shaking this morning.

The RHA on preparedness for the witching hour:
https://www.rha.uk.net/news/press-releases/2019-07-july/government-needs-to-do-more-to-prepare-firms-for-a-‘no-deal’-brexit
I am frankly shocked at paragraphs 12 and 13 of their attachment - the need for new Transit Offices of Departure/Destination and Authorised Consignors/ees so that goods can undergo customs formalities away from the border and ideally at traders' premises. If the RHA is correct in saying we're still reliant on the FSA and Stop 24 (plus Manston) and if importers/exporters (particularly the vocal supermarkets and automotive companies) have yet to be approved, then someone needs a huge kick up the bum - and preferably before lunchtime. This is not rocket science.

So, finally and belatedly, Labour is shifting its position. At least it might make things interesting now!

Surely labour will lose a lot of its heartlands up north so stop it from getting into number 10
I presume they have calculated a second referendum
But supporting one will destroy I'm sure of any hope to get the keys to number 10

It may well do, Keith, but elsewhere it is hemorrhaging votes to the Lib Dems and Green Party. Brexit doesn’t fall across traditional party lines, hence the deliberate policy of not having a policy, but that ran out of road. I think this is a smart move, made easier by the Tories apparent desire for a no deal Brexit. If that goes badly wrong, which it is likely to, Labour can sit back and say we saw this coming, hence our position.

Considering they will now vote Remain I think Keith could be correct, looks like Labour are afraid a lot of their supporters will vote Lib Dem. Hung Parliament come next General Election

There are some points to be admired with Corbyn despite the vilification of the vast majority of the national media. Taking the national grid and water back into state control being 2 of them. That said, this country will never in my view be prepared to elect a Corbyn led government. Dover is a good example of why. The same voters who put their faith in Prosser will never take the leap that far left.
Despite today's announcement, the Labour position is still equivocal. Those with vision to see what harm a hard Brexit will do the country have virtually all given up in despair. Somehow they will have to find what little solace they can from the Lib Dems and Greens. Incidentally, did anyone hear John Major's interview on the World Service Hard Talk programme this week? To say he was excoriating in his criticism of the state of the Tory party would be an understatement.
This country is now polarised so far between hard right and hard left that I wonder of common sense will ever prevail again in my lifetime.
