Nice to have, as well as the lockdown started/finished too early/late, 'it should never have happened' being thrown into the mix.

It was 'in the mix' from the beginning. You just didn't notice.
Judgment to be published early next week.

I am in Paddington Basin on my narrowboat. I have had to open up the weedhatch four times to clear what is basically carrier bags. En route I have been into three major supermarkets, none of which sell bread knives (ideal for clearing prop), presumably in case boaters get all stabby in solidarity with the local 'community' .
Have ordered 'Zombie death knife' from Amazon Prime. Delivery tomorrow to Mr Patel's newsagent round the corner.

Judge predictably refuses permission for judicial review of legality of 'lockdown'. (See post #766). In other words, de Pfeffel's fopdoodles have complete legal freedom to cancel our liberties and trash our economy, and to continue doing so, because of a virus that's a low risk for the majority. Appeal being considered.

Grateful to know which other countries did NOT impose some form of restriction on individual liberty in face of Corvid 19?
There seems to be a huge growth in JR nowadays. Saw it creeping up in the 80s. Heading towards a society like the USA if not careful based on litigation rather than liberty?

You must be confused. Application for JR isn't litigation.
Grateful to know if you're suggesting that because many foreign governments behaved with deadly stupidity and totalitarian intent the UK government was right to ape them.

Litigation - the process of taking legal action?

#780, Bob, the answer to your question is: Brazil, Belarus, Nicaragua. Neither of the two latter nations are celebrated for their liberal democracy.

Judicial review is a means of restraint on the power of government and legislatures; litigation (a lawsuit) seeks resolution to a dispute between private parties. As our stagecoach is hurtling rather towards Brave New World than Bleak House, JR is the appropriate brake. (Though, IMHO, the majority of passengers are enjoying the ride and are eager to arrive at the destination.)

"litigation (a lawsuit) seeks resolution to a dispute between private parties."
That is a very narrow definition.

A JR, as WGS points out, is the act of asking the Court if the Government/Executive has exceeded it's legal powers. Happens all the time.
In this case, I am not surprised it has been thrown out as the Government does have powers to act in a public health emergency - whether you agree that this is a public health emergency and with the powers generally is a separate question.
With the news today that the virus is more airborne than originally thought, the question of obligating to wear face masks is going to be the next on this list.
