It's still chaos on York Street and Castle Street, hoards of vehicles going up Castle Hill to get up the town.
Why is this being done on a Saturday morning?

Tried and tested, not the first time this run has been done, well done to all involved.

It was originally planned for last Sunday, so why change to a Saturday when it's obviously going to be much busier?

I have just seen a picture of it going up Folkestone Road with a queue of cars behind, they will have a very slow journey if they are going to Folkestone.

O Bob, what a faux pas - putting up links to the 'other place' is worse than farting in church.

For goodness sake Peter, credit where it's due. Why the feuding, both forums serve a purpose and most times are complementary in their wishes for a better Dover.

forgot kevin who started the day's event with his commentary and photos.
the "express" rang me this morning asking for permission to use on their facebook page - i couldn't find any contact details for him so i suggested that they go ahead and credit him as per usual.
hope that's ok with him.

Oh dear another threads been opened....the view from the bedroom window gives another perspective on the size of the load.
Rather puzzled that no mention was made of the move on the local BBC news this evening.

Bob, #70 was definitely tongue in cheek and a dig at entrenched attitudes. Like you I post in both places.

http://www.kentonline.co.uk/dover/news/huge-transformer-to-take-to-119402/
A huge electricity transformer the size of a house is to take to Kent's roads.
Drivers are being asked to clear the way for the 318 tonne load as it is moved from Sellinge to Dover overnight on Friday, February 3.
|
To enable the load to access the Port of Dover, the A20 from the junction with the B2011 to the York Street roundabout will be closed from midnight on Friday, February 3 until 6am on Saturday, February 4.
There will be a signed diversion route via the B2011 and York Street.

Didn't they move it back to Germany a few months ago for a service or did I imagine that?
