i think it leaves the western docks earlier heike, all the signs along the folkestone road suggest that.

leaving the docks at 0730 hours, brian will be there a few hours before just to make sure all eventualities are covered.

A bit off topic, but a response to the pictures of the bins, I was searching for something and I came across a post about the rubbish on Folkestone Road, dated 21 November 2007.
Whoever is responsible for sorting this matter out doesn't seem to have done much in the last six years. Impressive ?

unfortunately there is more than meets the ear here, waste services bear the brunt of the the incessant e mails from roger, myself and others but all they can do is come down and remove the waste and sometimes berate the perpetrators with the help of expensive interpreters.
ddc appear to not want to address the real issue and just brush the thing under the lino.
in 5 years time we will all be talking about the same thing with accompanying photos.

As DDC seem to be unable or even unwilling to seriously address the problem maybe the answer is to provide an extra collection to the offending properties.
I know it is giving in to this slovenly lot but at least the area would be tidier and not the eyesore it is at the moment to other locals and visitors.

It looks like the wide load is running late! Much activity around the entrance to the marina, however, and I think it's on the move now!

Yes, police holding traffic now on Townwall Street. The wide load is on the move!

Could be fun coinciding with the Christmas shopping traffic in town! Me thinks it should have left earlier......

Hope no one is parked on Folkestone Road - I'm not convinced it's going to make it up there!

Certainly an interesting operation. Wide load is currently on Snargate Street heading east on the wrong side of the road, presumably to avoid going around roundabouts! All westbound traffic on Townwall Street being directed onto Woolcomber Street at present.

what time do you estimate it will hit the folkestone road kevin?

To be honest, Howard, I'm not sure how it's going to get to Folkestone Road! Currently stopped on Townwall Street heading east on the wrong side of the road. I hope someone has done their sums rights. Looks far too big and complicated to go up Folkestone Road!

It looks like it's a push-me-pull-me contraption with tractor units at each end. They are now reversing it around the York Street roundabout. Looks like it's going to be a long day for them! Fascinating to watch though.

good grief looks even bigger out on the road than it did in the docks.
even with no parked cars the folkestone road doesn't seem wide enough to take that.

Incredible driving - they got it around the roundabout with relative ease. Now heading up York Street. Look forward to seeing other people's pictures as it makes it way through Dover. It's certainly going to be interesting on Folkestone Road. Anyone on here who has a car parked there, I'd move it now!

Traffic now free flowing on Townwall Street so they are opening things up quickly once its clear and safe to do so. Might get a little congested now on York Street and Folkestone Road, but it is moving surprisingly well for such a wide load. I've seen people in cars not manage to navigate a roundabout as well as that!
