Just to let you all know.
I popped into the 8 Bells this evening just before I attended a meeting (as you do) and had a very nice couple of real ales from their beer festival menu.
Speaking to the boss of the premisses over a little liquid refreshment, I mentioned the fact that it seemed rather quiet outside and the tables where being used by overseas visitors.
Yes he replied, all of the undesirables have been banished and will not be back again.
I have to admit it was a very pleasant visit and will be back again soon.
Also must add........I know where the misfits have moved on to but knowing the landlord they won't be there for long. Pencester next?

No misfits in Blakes, Ian.

That sounds great Ian it will be nice to walk down the high street and not see and hear them outside the 8 bells . If the other pub has any sense it will ban them as well

I'm not going to argue with you Peter.
Iv'e got shinier balls than you.

Can't wait for my first game.
Sarah, the other pub in question will not tolerate them either, they are getting reduced in their choice.

where is everybody?
undeterred i searched high and low for our thirsty brethren, even the sacred spot close to the khasi was desolate save for a member of the public going shopping.
a bit like the marie celeste just lacking some unopened cider bottles on the grass.

I recognise the chap going into the Eight Bells, a local Dover business man. Did you check the back of Barclays Bank Howard? There were a couple there when I went to the library on Tuesday. There were also three empty cans on the floor right outside the Museum entrance.

usually the museum entrance is only used when the weather is inclement alec, didn't see any by the library.
If. This is a result of concerted action by the police and. Licensing authorities then fantastic ! I like to think the forum and its members also have had a part to play. Long may it continue. And thank you to those that helped it happen

i understand that a group has been formed to represent our disenfranchised imbibers - save our drinkers society.
just a snappy acronym required now to set the ball rolling.
Blimey ! what a positive change , I havnt been out in the town for just under a week , Took a quick trip to the co op today and again No drunks , No Beggars and no crowd of nerdowells outside the 8 bells , long may it continue

Howard, you make me laugh so much! I look forward to your posts!
Yes, it is a lovely change, The Eight Bells should be applauded for their own actions as well. It was so unpleasant to walk down there in the "old days".

9.45 this morning, one hooded scrote drinking cider on the steps of Eddie Wright's electrical shop in Castle St.

Sorry I am late posting - I have been unable to rinse my mind of the image conjured by the phrase "hooded scrote".........
Somebody help me!
A new title for the thread perchance, Peter ? Scrotewatch ?
