I was brought up in Canterbury Peter, I know those areas well . Today Dane John , no drinkers , The castle and church area , no drinkers , the high street no drinkers , no beggers in any of those places either , no one hassling me for change or a ciggarette . As I said a refreshing change from the short trip down the High Street in Dover

I only lived there from 1962 until 2002 with frequent foreign absences, however my mother is still living there and often has to clear up Special Brew cans from her garden! Obviously the scrotes have moved to Dover from Canterbury. Actually I know of one who used to frequent the Dover St area and St George's and now sells the Big Issue in Dover having served a 22 month jail sentence for supplying drugs.

There does seem to be a migration to Dover, one of the police officers I spoke with at the event in the market square said there are a hard core of 25 known street drinkers in Dover for a town this size thats a lot. I dont think that other towns are without thier problems , but Dover is the town I live in and I think it deserves better .

Maybe they could not afford the Canterbury rents or is Canterbury now more diligent in up-holding their bye laws.

i was told 6 years back that people bidding a fond farewell to canterbury jug made a beeline for dover as the night shelter and soup kitchen were better here.
cannot apply now as it is only our overseas friends staying at her majesty's pleasure there now.
as far as i know there is not a night shelter in dover.
There isnt as far as I know Howard .
People selling the Big Issue have all, by and large, had a bit of history. That is why they sell the Big Issue. There is no need to imply negativity or to share that history with the wider population without permission. The Big Issue gives people an opportunity to move on and up, to take responsibility and control, and to prepare to contribute. That deserves our support.

Bern
I'd rather support a BI seller than a beggar offering and doing nothing in return.
Marek
I think therefore I am (not a Tory supporter)
Very true Marek ,I will buy a Big Issue as its a cause I support , I will give money to Buskers , I will not support Beggars

The drug dealer in question was a Big Issue seller before his conviction. Apparently he was dealing openly in public handing out his goodies with a copy of the magazine. It's all a matter of public record.

Okay - if not much has changed what are we doing about it? And creeps or not, if things HAVE changed give the guy a second chance.

I've been away for a while working 'Up North', whilst on my travels I saw some sights to behold in a Liverpool shopping precinct, it's the first time I've seen an alchohol fueled punch up in a Pound Shop, they were given short shift though, grabbed in head-locks by security and the police were there in minutes. Mind you it's the first time I've seen security in a Pound Shop.

At least the Police came Barry , thats a pretty tame encounter for The Pool, I once watched two pregnant women slug it out in Mothercare
