Keith
that sounds like a positive first step. Hopefully, increased awareness will bring increased care.

An update on the tram-shelter repairs:
The panes have to be etched to match the unbroken ones, but the company who do the etching, have ceased trading, so they are looking for a new supplier.
I do hope that no more panes are broken in the mean-time.
I believe there should be no need to move the shelter if local people were more vigilant; being a Grade 11 listed building, it needs to be as authentic as possible, so repairs and refurbishment has to be correct.

must be costing a few quid to get the right stuff roger.
let's see how long the new panes last, hopefully a long time.

If we don't want it moved, I'm starting to wonder if the glass panes would be better off cheaply replaced with heavy clear plastic printed with the engraved design. Admittedly not ideal and an unfortunate compromise, but at least the panes wouldn't get shattered and need continually replacing. The shelter would still look the part and such panels could be easily cleaned.
I suppose as the shelter is listed, such changes would not be appropriate though.

i would go along with the plastic panes phil, but as you say special dispensation may be needed due to its listed status.

No approval would be required to have the glass toughened after etching. It costs a few bob but would make it far harder to smash.
