i am certain that the town council are responsible for the new blue, covering railings, noticeboards etc with it.
if any is left over they may give the kiosk a couple of coats.

David Little wrote:Sue, please stop talking in riddles, the bollards and the civic crest are absolutely nothing to do with the Town Team, I have no idea what you're talking about.
Same here and after Sue's last reply I am still confused. What has the Town Hall roof got to do with the Town Team?

If I remember my Agatha Christie aright Town team was a form of Will that had the beneficiaries killed-off one by one, or was that Tontine?

Ignorance is bliss, bliss is happiness, I am happy...to draw your attention to the possible connectivity in the foregoing.

The clue is in the name Sue - 'Blue Bird' - There is a bird logo associated with Town Team stuff. If you see the Blue Bird Logo, then its to do with the Town Team, anything else just painted Blue is nothing to do with the Town Team. Just FYI - the Blue Bird trail has not yet been marked out. It will be, when the Town Team have the funds available to do it, through the use of Blue Bird signs/transfers at strategic points which will guide tourists from Cruise terminal and Castle into the Town to places of significant interest in the Town, hopefully increasing footfall within the Town and benefitting traders and businesses therein.
The Civic Crest and Town Hall roof has nothing to do with the Town Team or the Blue Bird Trail - hence the brows furrowed in puzzlement from the Town Team collectively.

Maybe it is too hot for you today Sue. Perhaps a glass of water and a sit down is in order because you are making no sense at all. If the Town Hall is being painted, then at least it is being maintained. If the conservation officer has his eyes open he will notice a uPVC lantern light in one of the flats in Ladywell Annexe, which I would dare to suggest on a Graded Building is of far more significance than blue paint.
Anyway, Neil has eloquently stated the position with regard to The Town Team.

Not one to give up easily I have checked the history of the blue bollards.Yes the DTC were responsible for the change in colour.Having said that the Dover Town Clerk and a Councillor sit on the Town Team .The Town Team are responsible for the Blue Birds appearing .How does this sit easy with JOE public/
What Im highlighting is the fact the DDC crest has been covered.
Dover Town is not in my Parish but as Chairman Its in my District as are all the Towns and Parish Councils within DDC Boundary .
Its many years since 1974 .

The Dover Borough Council was abolished and the Dover District Council was formed through the amalgamation of Dover Borough, Deal Borough, Sandwich Borough and the associated Rural Councils Howard.

I thought all the blue paintwork was started last year when sprucing up the town for the Olympics, I remember it was discussed on here then.
This member of JOE public did not once connect the change from black to blue with the Town Team, especially as possibly the Bluebird theme came after the paintwork.

Sue, if you are having a problem with the Blue and think that the DDC crest is so important to Joe Public (who generally seem to like the DDC about as much as a plague of boils and associate with their own town/village rather than the District), then the place to take it up is with the relevant officers in your own council and at DTC. I suspect, because you've looked at the history of the blue street furniture, that you have already done this and found out that all the blue street furniture, etc. only went ahead after gaining agreement from DDC officers since DDC hadn't maintained it for years and didn't want the cost of redoing it in their own colours.

the penny is beginning to drop now re: 1974.
previously each town and village had their own individual identity/colour scheme but with the arrival of the district wide council everything came under the black umbrella.

I sometimes wonder why I and others give up our time to try and do our little bit.
Egotistical people, interested in self promotion and nothing else, are the main reason our town is in decline.
