At the meeting last night of the Whitfield parish council,we were given out the first site layout of the above,I will try to get somone up today to put it out on my pc so you all can see,but what I can tell you now is the make up of them there will be a totel of 74 homes. For the 5 bedroom homes there will be only one type and there will be 3 homes only.
(2) for the four bedroom homes there will be 5 types of home making a totel of 41 homes.
(3) for the 3 bedroom homes there will be only two types of homes making up a totel of 30.
THe list make up then.
(1) 5 bedrooms 3
(4) 4 bedrooms 41
(3) 3 bedrooms 30.
Making a totel of 74 homes,

As you all know I have been againts this and the many that will follow them the parish and the way it is run will be gone for ever ,I can see it ending up just a part of Dover infact bigger that Dover its self with the build up of shops and outlets also, it will be a town not a parish.Very sad to see what is happing around us today and the way we live. What parish will be next on the list,River gone,Whitfield well on the way if in years to come if all the forward plans go ahead we will see the end of about four more parishs around Dover it will end up like the Medway towns all rolled into one,So keep all your old post cards because they will be the only thing which will show how a parish should be. Is it to late to stop it.? It is not but unless the public take up the fight to stop it by going to all council meetings both parish, town, district, even county one ,it will all go ahead.

River was extended in 1971 with all the houses built on the hills behind Lewisham Road. There is very little room for further housing apart from the odd infil. In fact River formed its own Parish Council in 1987.

If these houses weren't built Vic. where would our (local) youngsters live when they are ready to leave home ? They'd have to move out of Dover. House prices are still reasonably affordable compared to many areas around Kent.

That is not what Mr Karlos is asking read it again thank you.
But with all the brown sites still in the town there is no need to over build our parishs.

With respect to you and your local knowledge Vic, those brown field sites have already been factored in the housing number requirements. Whitfield housing is needed to ensure Dover has a housing supply and to deliver a viable local economy.

Sorry but do not agree on that one, 6000s up at Whitfield are not wanted nor needed as time will prove.

I see the bank of England is about to stress test the banks, for a 35% drop in house prices and a 5 % rise in interest rates.
Should be interesting.

Mr Watkins sir.
If that is true then lets see all the brown sites used up first and sold and then look at it again does not take long to build new homes now does it.?

developers don't seem very interested in brownfield sites unfortunately as evidenced by the large area in Malvern road going to auction after about 15 years or more.
5 minutes walk from high speed one and another 5 to the town centre and another 10 to the seafront should mean any flats/houses would command a high price.

Vic, they can't develop or sell them for realistic prices. There may well be a need for intervention support to deliver some of these sites. They are more likely to be delivered by social landlords - with grant assistance- because of the nature of the sites. Market housing is needed to bring the economic effect Dover needs - not more of the same.

The problem with some brown field sites is that the land is contaminated and unsuitable for housing.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

It would not have anything to do with DDC getting funds for the new build then? But I do not mind the DDC geting the funds if it be put in the hands of the parish council. We have yet to see any new build up at the old Bks yet or Maxton. And the car wash in London rd or Cherrytree Ave and lots more. Dover does not need anymore social landlords we have seen already what happens by just looking at Folkestone rd and they were all nice family homes till the DDC let it go to social landlords,
And it is not that you was told it would happen before it went ahead we as a town council then and ward cllrs was telling that would happen.
