Most Palestinians descend from Egyptians who moved to Israel around 1850 AD and even later, Brian, including the early 20th century. But each to their own. We'll look after the Falklands.

"Semitic Genetics
With a new technique based on the male or Y chromosome, biologists have traced the diaspora of Jewish populations from the dispersals that began in 586 B.C. to the modern communities of Europe and the Middle East.
The analysis provides genetic witness that these communities have, to a remarkable extent, retained their biological identity separate from their host populations, evidence of relatively little intermarriage or conversion into Judaism over the centuries.
Jews, Palestinians, and Syrians share a genetic link.
Another finding, paradoxical but unsurprising, is that by the yardstick of the Y chromosome, the world's Jewish communities closely resemble not only each other but also Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese, suggesting that all are descended from a common ancestral population that inhabited the Middle East some four thousand years ago..."

Brian:
"Palestine is also mentiond in the bible, Israel is not"
Just about sums it all up. And probably explains your misguided views on the subject of Israel and Palestine.
Tom, we all descend from Adam and Eve.
The Falkland Islanders are of Anglo-Celtic origin. As too are the People of Kent.
However, Tom, the specific links between Jews and some other populations in the Middle East could be explained by their linguistic history: Syrians, Phoenicians (Lebanese), Assyrians and Babylonians spoke Aramaic languages, and Aramaic is very similar to Hebrew.
When a part of the Jews returned from the Babylonian Exile after 70 years, they were speaking Aramaic rather than Hebrew, having picked up the spoken language of the Babylonians, which is why Jesus, some 550 years later, spoke Aramaic. Hebrew remained the language of the Scriptures.
Aramaic-speaking Jews could easily converse with their Aramaic-speaking neighbours.
Abraham came from the city of Ur in Sumeria, where Aramaic was spoken.
And Isaac's wife, Rebecca, and Jacob's wives, also descend from the Sumerians.
Ur would be in the south of modern Iraq, also known as Mesopotamia.

Brian, the Reign of Israel is mentioned in the Bible, and the first society called Israel - situated in Israel - started with Joshua, the disciple of Moses, several hundred years before King David.
King David lived around 1,000 B.C., so you can work it out from there. The first king of Israel was actually Saul, followed by David.
The name Israel starts with Jacob, father of the twelve tribes of Israel, which in effect became thirteen tribes, because the tribe of Joseph became two tribes, whereas the Levites, who did not have a territory for themselves, lived among the other twelve tribes.
You needn't teach me anything about the history of Israel, Brian!

Howard, the Levites are Israelites, but being the priestly tribe, they lived among the other twelve tribes, for which reason they didn't need to receive a territory of their own.
Because Jacob had twelve sons, forming twelve tribes, this meant that the Israelites would have twelve territories in the Land of Canaan. As the Levites didn't need a territory, this was compensated for by making two tribes out of Joseph's descendants, hence the tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh, who were both sons of Joseph.
As a result, there were twelve territories in Canaan, one for each tribe, plus the Levites who lived among these twelve, within their towns and villages. In theory, the Levites would make the thirteenth tribe of Israel.
Interestingly, Jesus' Mother, the Virgin Mary, descends from the Levites, which makes Jesus Son of Man a descendant of the Levites by way of his Mother. As Son of God, he was born into the tribe of Judah, but not as a descendant.
In fact, Joseph, Mary's husband, is a descendant of King David and thus is from the tribe of Judah.
But he is not the father of Jesus, as the Virgin Mary conceived by the Holy Spirit.

If you believe in the evolution theory, Paul, then you'd have to take it a step further, and claim that humans and monkeys alike descend from mono-cells.
That at some point, these mono-cells stopped dividing and started becoming masculine and feminine and then started mating and reproducing.
That they subsequently developed into fish, kangaroos and elephants ... and monkeys.
And then started talking.
Now if you REALLY believe all this, then so be it!

Israel mentioned in the Bible 12,440 times. The Bible does not mention Palestine specifically but the Philistines are mentioned about 250 times.
