With the Council's current stance, I doubt whether any investor will seriously look at Manston airport going forward. The people of Thanet can look forward to the closure of the airport and the construction of yet more housing where there was once a runway. Where any of these people are going to work is another matter, which seems to be of little significance or concern to their elected representatives.
It is a no-brainer. Which might, only saying might, describe some of those responsible for this decision......

Every Local Authority has to make brave decisions that it feels are best for the long term future of the area it is responsible for, even if some of the residents there don't like it; I believe Thanet DC made the wrong decision in refusing night-flights.
Definitely NIMBYism of the worst kind.

Let's drag some personal stuff into this - that should take the attention away from a poor decision very effectively.
