You couldn't make it up, Sarah! Only in East Kent can we get a road twenty years too late, and even then it causes a traffic jam. As you can tell, I was not impressed this morning.

Quickest way to QEQM from Dover now via Brenley Corner!

I have seriously considered that route over the past couple of days Peter , it would be quicker
Is it true that Thanet have said no to night flights? I keep hearing that "75%" of people in Thanet oppose them - but it is only 75% of the low number of people who responded who opposed them - very different indeed. And sometimes councils have to make less popular decisions for the good of the area. Perhaps they looked down, saw their own foot, and decided to shoot anyway?

Thanet obviously like having an area stuck in the doldrums.
Do they really want Manston open at all, I have my doubts.

while they are indies maybe but that can change by the hour it is a miracle that the turner gallery went ahead.
thankfully the council couldn't do much to stop it.

It is difficult to understand, though, the mentality of people who try, Canute like, to hold back progress. I don't advocate change or progress for its own sake, but when there are clear benefits to the community and some competent and compelling arguments pro development it is hard to understand when those people tasked with protecting and serving that community put up a wall.

Its really intresting as The Council have voted against night flights but have no enforcable right to stop night flights ,
the process becomes more convaluted as if the airport starts night flights, which they have the right to do and the council considers that the ammount of flights is excessive and constitutes a change of use , The council can hold an enforcable opinion that a "Change of use " has come into force and planning permission needs to be sought . The known unknown is there is no set definition of an "excessive " number of flights , ( Have you got one of your heads yet Howard ? )
