No good at DIY at all I'm afraid, much like Barry I should imagine I prefer to let others carry out these tasks
Therefore there's no possibility of selling washing machine spares, will leave that to Delmaines.
The new What Where When guide is available in a lot of the local pubs, I saw the latest issue in the Prince Albert. Folkestone has the SkaBour Festival this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Hey Rudi! are playing Saturday morning in the harbour and then again later I think.

14:3168464I have driven along Snargate Street to search for the modern gent but no luck at all. However I did peer into Bluebirds and see they have a dance on Saturday and another in about a month. I was about to book my ticket when I remembered the last time I went there and they sat me on a table with all the other odd people. Fair enough what else could they do? Anyway I thought no, it is free at The Dublin Man of War and dancing.
I have picked up the small version of the whats on guide in the Prince Albert where they have lots of copies on the fireplace. I have bought the Dover Express and it is full of things to do.. The Ramada has some nice things on, Dover Castle is to have Medieval Banquet Nights which I missed out on last time they did that many, many years ago, and Sotiros in Hythe has some interesting do's. Just must study my diary now.
Actually I wouldn't mind being a serving wench at the Medieval do's ..

08:3668563No use, I thought the Medieval Banquet was an evening meal but it is a demonstration during the day of how the Medievalites cooked and a bit of food tasting. Very disappointing but I might join English Heritage anyway because the Castle is a fantastic place to walk around and about 4 visits pays for the membership.
Have managed to find the larger version of the What, Where , When guide which shows 2 months but the Park Inn, Three Cups, Boars Head and the Prince Albert are about the only places to be listed. Of course it is up to people to let them know if they want to be in there and there is an e mail address. Maybe I could plan something for December and get it put in ???
An interesting advert in the Express to say the County Hotel is having a carvery and disco every night. It does not give any dates and I should not think it is starting from now until Christmas. I don't know how they can sustain it as it is a bit pricey. Has anyone ever been?

21:4168679I think the county hotel is the only building in Dover to fly the e.u. flag, and one would have expected the White Horse Invicta Flag to be flying there instead, going by the name!

07:4668741A very good band at the Dublin Man of War last night but a disappointing turn out. There were quite a few single ladies but few men. Maybe it was because of the football. Tonight should be better, the band is going to play soul music and there will be room for dancing.
I ate at The Fox in Temple Ewell last night it was packed even there wasn't anything special going on, it had to be due to the excellent food as everyone was eating.
The Railway Bell on the other hand was pretty empty.
The Royal Oak had a nice atmosphere with "just enough people" in there.
I did a lot of walking about River yesterday.

if you join the "friends of dover castle" the annual membership fee amounts to 1 and a half times the admission for one visit.

just log on to their website and download the form.
a word of advice though, do not send the form and cheque to the castle, it may be a while before anyone goes up and collects their post.
i always ring mike mcfarlane of the amanda guest house in harold street and arrange a time when i can hand my dosh over and collect a membership card.
all contact details are on the website.
will be the best 20 quid you have spent in a long time.

23:2668809Howard I am starting to like you more and more, I am a little bit tipsy after an excellent night at the Dublin Man of War do you think we should meet? after all this communication
I did also went to the Lydden Bell at later than 7 and it was a brilliant spread, I met some people I knew and some just passing through....the new landlord is called Dean and is really out to please.. very nice
It was nice but no singles very village - y. The menu looks good but I spent quite a time being earbashed by a Hope (at Lydden) fan who told me their menu was much better. I thought that was a bit naughty..was he a spy?? Now I have to try both for food.
So much to do so little time.
The Railway Bell was empty again as I passed by on 3 occasions this evening..and bad reports again from locals talking round and about basically it is boring I am told.?? is that true

08:1968825Anne ,
It depends on what you are looking for .I prefer The Railway Bell as it is not over crowded.I was in there the other lunch igme and very busy .Sundays very popular .
I fo to the Royal Oak but it is smaller and can get very busy .The Fox has a lovely pub atmosphere .
If you are looking for a man and not too choosey then the Dover pubs are the answer Personally I would not frequent them .Even in my younger days .

09:2670233I attended St Andrews for a christening then on to the Dublin Man O' War. They've got a child-friendly garden and they laid on a good buffet, the staff are very attentive.
