Here's a 'photo of the actual event. If you look over 'our' Charlie's right shoulder you can see a PCSO legging it down through the town to talk to the trio. Apparently some joker had 'phoned the police and told them that 'two strange men had been seen walking through town with a young child in short trousers'.

Maybe the prohibition order only applies to the area outside the old print shop because they was all sat on the benches outside Lloyds bank in the market square boozing at around 10.30am today at least several of them,i,m not exaggerating or seeing things so whats the point of these orders.

There was a right set too down there Friday night, smashed windows of the barbers and lots of blood everywhere. No idea who was involved....

There was a large group of young people leaving a party in the flats and spilling into the street. They were young and some drunk but no fighting, Only one door had it's top window smashed by one young and angry drunk lad. The boy punched the one window which did smash. There was a lot of damage done to the boys arm who will no doubt will need medical help

youngsters and drink just don't seem to mix well these days? Feel sorry for the shop owner arriving in the morning and finding that mess. Sympathy for the hospital staff tasked with caring for this simpleton. No empathy for the tw@t who couldn't handle his shandy...

You've been spending a lot of time around those benches in market square Andy, is there anything you would like to tell us?

Despite there being two PCSOs patrolling on a daily basis the number of street drinkers seems to be rising, we are getting more and more cruise passengers in the town and it doesn't make the place look inviting.

The drinkers were out in force this morning in Pencester Gardens making a nuisance of themselves as the fairground people were arriving.

The drinkers were being a nuisance as usual but not as much as the arsehole who parked their black car inbetween the cones outside Poundland making it impossible for the fair trucks to swing round to get into the park. They was held up for at least 2 hours.

The removal of the benches behind St Mary's church has resulted in the seats in Pencester Road being colonised by the day time drinkers meaning they are more visible to tourists and there is nowhere for members of the public carrying heavy shopping to get a rest.

The two benches behind St Mary's Church were great for a lot of ordinary people. Going about their business.
What does it take to relieve ourselves of these abusive/drinking nightmares.
Sorry people

The thing I can not understand is were there drunks like this when I was younger, I certainly do not remember seeing these undesirables during the day in parks or or benches.
Is this the result of our nearly 24hr licencing laws or are there simply more drunks around now?
Are they more visible because there is virtually no street and town policing any more?
Is there to much easy money available to them as the drink and drugs have to be paid for?
Do they regularly use the soup kitchen so get their food free?
Whatever the reason these people are a nuisance to so many and should be dealt with.

Jan you hit the nail on head with this 24hr drink thing does nothing to help Alcoholics or anyone wanting to binge all night. What kind of law was this and they they ban drinking in street makes no bloody sense whatsoever.
If only everyone could be kind and honest what a better world we would be in.
