Hi Guys - well what can I say ??
A massive Thank You to one and all; it has certainly boosted my well-being and reduced the feeling of being stuck in KCH for so many days, with Jean reading me your kind postings of best wishes.
Not to make this too long and boring, I was so ill on Friday (I had been feeeling ill with flu-type symptoms all week, each day getting worse.
I called my Doctor's on Friday to make an appointment and they say said no I can't, so I called the out-of-hours service later and they said call an ambulance, which would have left Jean stranded at KCH, so she drove me there - about 7.30.
She didn't get home till about about 1.30 am and connected to her dialysis machine until just after 02.00 - 4 hours late !
Saturday I was "out of it" but had lots of checks, scans, x-rays and blood-tests (apparantly).
To say I felt like death (I nearly used another word, but remembered of course this is a family forum) for the first couple of days, is an understatement, my recovery started Sunday afternoon I think - thanks Peter and Kathryn so much and sorry for me talking (and coughing) so much.
Each day after that I thought I was coming home, especially after walking to and from Canterbury City Centre (a few comments to make later), walking around M & S there and seeing a pair of really dapper shoes I wanted to buy - but as Jean said, I didn't have any money.
I actually got told off by the nurses but a "well-done" from the Doctors -but I still had to stay one more day.
Type too much, just like I talk !!
I'm not doing any Council stuff till the end of next week as I just want to relax and get back some of the strength I have lost.
Biggest thanks of course to Jean - my rock.
Thanks again everyone.

Roger what you have described was exactly what I went through last November. I am so pleased that you are making such a good recovery (far quicker than I did!) I am impressed that you managed to walk to M&S and back, I couldn't walk up one flight of stairs without stopping 3 times for at least 2 weeks afterwards!

Don't overdo it, it's so easy to want to but as you are coming on in leaps and bounds please stay that way. Take care and all the best

xx

Cor, that was quick Jeane.
I promise not to try and extend my self too much - I have a few "gentle" jobs around the garden, weather permitting.
Two major things I was surprised at, that on Sunday I took notice of the guy in the next bed, I thought poor old chap, must be around 80 and near his end - turned out he was 62, same age as me !!
He went home on Monday, but couldn't walk out of the hospital, let alone walk to the the City Centre.
The next guy to have his bed, was another old chap, but I thought he's in a bit better condition and I guess not too bad for middle 70s - turned out he was 62 as well.
Looking at these two guys, I think I must have looked after myself quite well over the years - and hope to continue, when my chest says yes.
Thanks again.

We're very pleased to see you back again, Roger. Goodness, what a rough time you've had. It's amazing that you managed to "escape" the hospital for a while to get to the city centre!
Poor Jean, and what a worry for her, and then with the dialysis too. Thank goodness you're both okay, and all the very best wishes to you both.

Welcome home Roger. If you can walk from K&C to M&S you can walk from home to Blakes!

Thanks Maggie and Vic.
Peter, I agree it is a lot further walking from KCH to M & S in the City Centre and back again, but that was late morning, the sun was shining and I was feeling pretty good.
Jean couldn't walk that far, so when we do come down - hopefully very soon, we'll be driving - one of us will anyway.
Thanks again.
Roger - I might need a Murphy's when I get there, as I understand that stout has iron in it ? They found I have an iron deficiency - more weight !! and very low haemo-globin.

Hey Rog
I meant to post before, but dont you think getting yourself hospitalised is a wee bit of a drastic way to dodge that ever expanding list of jobs that Jean has...
Glad to see you are on the mend.. and as Jeane says.. take it easy!

Thank you very much - it's great to be home.
Last night wasn't the best though, as my temperature has gone through the roof and I spent all night sweating and soaking the bed-clothes (Jean took it all in her stride though) and my night clothes were wringing-wet - I still feel hot too and there's no heating on, so hope it goes down very soon as the anti-biotocs should be killing off/killed off, the infection.
Thanks again.

Roger, so pleased to read that you are back home again with Jean where you belong but reading your last post indicates the need for caution, so do not overdo it and before you know it, you will be back in tip top health

Lots of love as always to you both xx

Thanks Jeane - I've drunk quite a lot of water today - maybe a bit more tonight, but mixed with some black stuff !
Thanks too Colette - caution indeed, some chest pains this afternoon doing some little bits around the garden, so if it's sunny tomorrow, maybe I'll soak up some vitamin D relaxing, rather than working.
