River is typical suburbia, thinking it is something it is not.

Came back from Broadstairs (free parking and petrol at 121.9) 10 mins ago. Whitfield bypass running free but no access onto coastbound A2 due to queues, so down to Barton Road via Buckland estate - both running smoothly.

It is a nice part and we feel lucky to live where we do ,but still Dover and a lot of us were born in Dover and over years just moved a round it or in it, but some have come from other parts of the UK and that is Ok with myself, years ago it was a real parish with just roads leading into Dover but over the years building of new homes etc has taken over. Not much more to say about it.Apart from the nice parks.
River is a village and civil parish in Kent, England, situated between Dover and the neighbouring village of Temple Ewell.

Mr Dixon Maxton is a Village like River by name only and no parish council. The parish council of River as it is now has not been going that many years, Just like the town council when the reds took over and made up a town council years before that it all came under the Borough of Dover then it all merger with Deal and Sandwich etc. you can read all what happen on your lap top.

Just back into Dover, and for those of you coming into town from the villages, traffic is currently backed up to Barton Road.
Luckily I parked in London Road and walked to Morrison’s otherwise i’d be stuck!

Wikipedia entry for Whitfield -An ancient village and civil parish!!
Omits to say that it houses the District Council offices and a selection of super stores rather than a village shop.

Lots of traffic trying to take a short cut down Victoria Park and Laureston Place to avoid queues on Castle Hill. Chaos when someone tries to come the other way.

Vic Parish Council was formed in 1987 thirty one years ago .Dover ceased to be a borough in 1974 .councillors representing wards in the old borough wards were automatically Chartee Trustees.River has its own War Memorial.

Can you please start another thread if you'd like to discuss parish/town borders, and we'll keep this one about traffic.
