The traffic was backed up to the Charlton Green traffic lights at about 11.00 this morning, luckily the drivers did not block the crossing when I was waiting to cross from Morissons towards Frith Road.

Just had the gas mains replaced up our way, a stretch about seven car lengths long. This took two weeks and two days from marking out to tarmaccing (although, as there's still a small digger and a small dumper truck in the road, I guess it isn't quite finished). If anyone can be asked to do the maths, you may have a clue for Maison Dieu.

I know this was a quite while ago (14-15yrs) when we had gas installed to the pub that took nearly a month, one crew dug the road up, another installed the supply and another filled in the hole.
Here in Dover this summer it took a total of 4 days to move the gas meter because they prefer them to be outside, but at least we benefited with a £30 rebate because of lost supply.

The road between Tesco & KFC/B&M is just being closed off in the direction towards the Tesco roundabout only. Don't know how long for.

No traffic through the railway bridge on Crabble Hill on the 14th.
Wonder why they couldn't do the work on the Sunday?

As expected it's chaotic in this part of town

Crabble Hill's now open, unusual to see work finish early!
But there's still some bollards blocking the road by Hollis Motors.

And guess what? Southern Water/KCC haven't finished the bypass, and the toll bridge works in postponed

Doesn't it look better when a whole road is resurfaced instead a patchwork of filled pot holes?

There will be temporary four way traffic lights at Park Avenue and Salisbury Road junction next week for the continued gas works.
