It looks like the work is being done close to the junction with Malvern Road so those who have cars in Clarendon Street can go into Belgrave Road but very tricky for those facing the wrong way and having to reverse into traffic going in both directions.

Our parking wardens are being over zealous today ticketing cars in the surrounding roads for parking on double yellow lines. There are no vacant spaces locally to park legally and really they should make allowances for this week.

Still no excuse for parking illegally however annoying the lack of spaces.

Seems to me that our area is a soft target Keith due to the parking restrictions.

I thought the work in Maison Dieu Road was finished but this morning large stretches are coned off for whatever they now plan to do.

Courtesy of Pat Sherratt.
have just received leaflet from KCC re road maintenance in Maison Dieu Rd.
Road surface improvement work will start on 9th November for 6 nights (excluding weekend). Will be undertaken between 8pm. and 5am
Phase 1. North of Pencester Rd Junction. Lane closures of Maison Dieu Rd between Park Street and Pencester Road. Traffic will be controlled using convoy vehicles to reduce traffic speed past the resurfacing work.
Phase 2. South of Pencester Road Junction. Road closed to Castle Street. Diversion route will be via Pencester Rd, Biggin Street, Priory Street, York Street, Townwall Street, A256 Woolcomber Street.
Not sure what using “convoy vehicles” is. Also with new work on the gas mains in Maison Dieu Rd I hope KCC and the Gas Contractor are in dialogue to ensure the gas mains works is completed before resurfacing, how often a nice new road surface and along comes a utility company and digs it up
Regards
Pat

Avoid Maison Dieu Road if you can, earlier the traffic was backed up from the lights next to the Vet's back to Albert Road.

I did not help when someone decided to drive up the wrong way near Morrisons and had to do a turn around, there are some idiot drivers about.

Frustrated motorists are now turning off Maison Dieu Road into Crafford Street then racing down Dour Street to Ladywell. Most turn left and are then stuck in a queue at the lights and not really gaining much for their efforts.

Frustrated motorists are trying everything they can. With the M20 down to 50mph from Ashford almost to Maidstone and some of it is two lanes, they are using the M2/A2. The knock on is evident at Whitfield roundabout .... queues from the Coldred turning every day from 4pm onwards!

At the current rate of work, I estimate March 2028. It's ridiculous, I've never seen such a short stretch of roadworks take so long to complete.
