Taking away some issues around religion(whether or not this is relevant)
DTC all 3 parties (and myself) all agreed there should be no charges.
It's a bit rich when the leader of the council is consulting in his own ward and no charges there
yet this is not being consulted on in Dover.
Surely because of the strong opposition DDC should at least review this?

Wrong. There are charges for parking on St Margaret's 'sea front' in Summer and have been for some time, otherwise the parking spaces would be all clogged up all day by whoever got there first (a bit like Germans with towels on sun-loungers).
Conservative parking - for the many, not the few.

On a more serious I remember soon after the fall of the Berlin wall graffiti that said "a united Germany means even less sun beds", no doubt this will be deleted as "off topic".

As I heard someone say today, commenting upon someone who had described Churchill as a 'racist' - 'If he thinks Churchill was a racist, just wait until he finds out about that bloke he beat'.

Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. Which is why all the Conservative group will be voting FOR Labour's ridiculous motion tomorrow night. Doh!
(1) In accordance with Council Procedure Rule 13, Councillor M R Eddy will
move:
“In view of the strong opposition by the public to the proposed introduction of car
parking charges on Sundays in Sandwich, Dover and Deal, this council calls on
the cabinet to put on hold the introduction of new car parking charges until there
is adequate data available to make an evidence based decision.”
DDC are awaiting both the results of consultation and parking survey on use of parking on Sundays.

The motion doesnt seem that silly, in fact the only thing that is silly is that councillors felt it necessary to table it in the first place, says much about how they feel the cabinet at Whitfield operate...

[QUOTE="Captain Haddock"]Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.
Sorry to break this to you Bob but you are not still in that bog standard comprehensive belittling what used to be known as remedial children. There will be twists and turns but the charges will come in.
3 out of 10 - see me afterwards.

Ross you will be aware party politics plays a part in all this and Mr Eddy is the opposition Cllr so there is no surprize at any such motion.
We do need to challenge decisions made by any local authority or any other body if we feel them to be unjust, unfair, or in some cases crazy. lol

Labour motion passes with unanimous support from entire Council. Zero votes against. As predicted.

Crikey! Has common sense prevailed for once? For a moment then I had to glance at the sky to see if it had become black with airborne porkers.

There was a bit of a back lash over the recommendation to introduce Sunday Charging !

Not really, this was just the councillors ensuring that nothing is done until the consultation is completed and the analysis conducted. Whether that leads to a change of direction on the part of the cabinet is I suspect unlikely.
