this company has never been invoved with emergency work, maternity or intensive care, we can only hope they get the hang of it fairly quickly - they will be watched very closely.

If they get it wrong they get replaced by another contractor, that is how things work? the trouble is that it is not a catering or cleaning contract it is peoples lives at risk here!!
Audere est facere.
I suspect they will sub contract the bits of work they do not want to deliver.

who could they sub contract to though, as far as i know only the n.h.s. has operated these services?
There are any number of US and Brit (and other) companies who can claim experience and expertise. A US friend was somewhat taken aback by our maternity services a while back............

And there are a number of privately run companies not doing a good job in the present N.H.S. of course if barryw's dave was honest thats the tories real agenda
slowly(quickly ) in the present case.
whilst we all have good/bad stories on the present NHS
privatising is the wrong route

in short, whilst the NHS is not perfect, we should look at ways of improving it.
as has been proved in most other private industries, there are a lot of people to please before you ever get to patient satisfaction.
then of course theres the cutting corners to make sure the shareholders get there slice of the cake.
of course it bodes bad news for the future

Customer Care is a cornerstone of private companies. For sure there are other considerations, but they are not mutually exclusive. If, as you say - and we all know - the NHS is nor perfect (and some...) we should look at ways of improving it - this is one of those ways. It would be foolish not to fully explore ALL options. If contracts are managed effectively, audits thorough, and returns based on measurable and clinically sound outcomes I am not sure what the problem would be........

A man from the company was on Breakfast this morning, he said the NHS staff would continue as before but the hospital would have more input from the staff a little like the John Lewis co-operative. I have to admit it sounded hopeful but who knows.

and this can be done with the NHS in the same way

ALL POSTS ARE MY OWN PERSONAL VIEWS
Actually, experience tells us it can't. Without strict controls, audits and proper objectives it will fail every time. And the NHS has failed to recruit effective managers time after time, and has failed to manage out the failures. I am sorry, but the public sector services simply do not have the cojones to manage properly and the time for faffing about has ended.

So......the NHS has not failed to manage out poor managers? Has not failed to recruit effective managers? And there is no evidence whatsoever that public sector services are haemorrhaging money and failing to deliver? There are no senior managers who have attained promotion because that is safer than having them on frontline service and n o-one knows how to manage them out? And the NHS could really do all the things it needs to do such as effective audits and clear objectives, but has simply been biding its time?

Private Companies took over Residential Homes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No Privatisation in the NHS.Lets complain when we have to and Praise when we can.
Privatisation cut like the Coalition too far too deep.
Hospital Transport and Catering are a shambles and employment conditions appalling.
You cannot trust the Tories with the NHS.Thin end of the wedge.Must be nipped in the bud............Frightning.

i have not found customer care the cornerstone of private industry lately, i have piles of correspondence with british gas, british telecom and two others that indicate otherwise.
