Is fast approaching, it does not seem to have caught the imagination of the electorate and it is looking like it will be a extremely low turnout. I have had tweets from Anne Barnes but nothing else. Seems to be total apathy on the whole issue of Commissioners.

I'm working as a Poll Clerk at Northbourne that day - I shall be taking a lot of reading material with me!

Apart from forums there has been no real information around so how are the public supposed to make an informed decision on who to pick.
This is not a position that should never be decided by party loyalties but who will be best at the job, yet another potentially good idea that has not been thought through properly,

While we are told it would be best to privatise the Civil Service, BUT not to Politicise it. There seems to be no such qualms regarding 'Thatchers's Thuggees', our Police 'service'.
This is little more than a side-line for "one of us" that is unelectable Parliament-wise, but not clubbable enough for the Upper Chamber.
Is there a turnout figure cut-off point? Shall the successful candidate win on fewer votes that your average Council meeting?

Whoever wins will be unable to claim a democratic mandate with a straight face. It's the same here in Surrey; apathy rules amid a realisation that it will change nothing.

'Lost Voices of The Royal Air Force' is the current book of choice, Brian - and I can thoroughly recommend it, it's just brilliant. Next one lined up is 'Lost Voices of The Great War'; if it's anything like as good as the current one, I shall not be bored.

i would suggest a high energy drink to keep you awake too, none of us know enough about the job and the applicants to make a considered decision.

Diabetic, so

I shall just have to rely on the aforementioned books and a near 100% turnout for the mental stimulus needed to prevent the onset of sleep.

does anyone actually care who gets it because i don't? the guff coming out is that criminals live in fear of who gets the job.
in real life they are only worried when old bill is close by and coming after them.

But they will determine how crime is fought and where and where the budgets are concentrated. We need local input to this.

This is a position that should be judged on a candidates ability to do the job not what party they belong to. Without some decent unbiased information I will not bother to vote.

i will not be bothering either jan just another load of flannel that will see someone getting paid for a sinecure. the only candidate i know to be standing is anne barnes as she has been most voluble about it being a non political peson appointed.
our yellow friends have been backing her all the way.
