You can get out your extra large wooden-spoon if you want to Keith and I'm sure you will enjoy doing so, but I'm sure that the majority of families with small children who live around that area, out-number a few residents of Westbury.
Be careful of what you wish for. If MCD sell the land and a developer buys it and puts in an application for some sort of housing, that would change everything completely.
I'm not going to follow this up at all, but don't keep grumbling about no play area and how nasty DDC is as the Priory area doesn't have one.

Brian, that means using common sense and putting party political squabbles to one side so your sensible solution is unlikely to happen in the near future.

You posted as I was typing Keith.
With the majority of houses in that area having gardens and the open land nearby I am unsure why a play area is needed except for the large Folkestone Road houses with all their flats.

Don't see how this can be political as KS keeps insisting he is no longer political. I'll take his word and let others judge.
As far as I'm concerned when this site was highlighted it was overgrown & un/underused as allotments. It did not have statutory allotment status as it was owned by the Municipal Charities-and still is.
It was ideal being flat ,having a suitable access & secure enough for young children to use, suitably equipped.
Nobody is after their allotments, as the site is not under consideration.
As Howard is not of my political persuasion his confirmation of events makes the point.
It's the usual response we get when KS is cornered.
Forumites need to aware there was a solution -as the subject keeps being resurrected- and the people who killed the solution.

we appear to be left with a dead end situation unless roger together with ddc officers can pull a rabbit out of the hat.

Roger at the time the DTC were asked to run the allotments for Municipal Charities for a set period, that period is now up in September, at the time of taking them on the charity had, and still have no intention of selling the land, as stated previously talks are in progress with Municipal Charity, DTC and others that wish to take on the allotments, no good speculating the outcome, just have to wait and see

O.K. Sheila - thank you. Why do other parties have to be involved ? why can't DTC just renew the contract with MCD ? You said yourself that there is a waiting list so they are obviously popular.
As a Trustee of the MCD, I'll ask what is going on.

i may have made mention of this before but we don't appear to have a similar facility in the priory area.

i think the reason is that the powers that be believe that our children are so under nourished from living in the ghetto that they wouldn't have the strength to play on a swing.
