well done charlie for brief reply, but to be fair your not only fighting an uphill battle against the E.U., but your leader clearly states he to has no problems staying within the E.U. as a body and his(your)party has no intention of changing that.
no longer can your party hide behind what the lasat govt may or may not have done, its about now, where do the conservative party stand on the E.U
In/or out?
clearly barryw says out as do many leading tories
but david c has made a stand against his own bickering followers that the tories suppor staying in the eu, with or without any referendum

Keith - read my blog and you will be enlightened.
To get out we need to start the renegotiation route.

Barry, the EU referendum is urgently needed, the debate will be sooner than planned, the Prime Minister and the Foreign Secretary are to attend.
Mervyn King, Governor of the Bank of England, has put in a powerful word, saying that time is running out.
If we delayed a referendum as you suggest, it would be too late.
UKIP has had the right stance on this all along. People have realised it. The game is up!

The EU referendum is not urgently needed, have it and we will be locked into the EU. If you think we can win an out vote then you are delusional Alexander. It won't happen - the voting public will get scared and threatened by the all too powerful EU lobby.

Barry, see the opinion polls on leaving the EU!
Last one stated that about 30% (can't remember exact figure) of people here would vote in favour of staying in the EU.
From last year that was a drop of 11% being in favour of remaining in the EU, and 2010 was already a drop of 5% from 2009.
Your maths need updating to 2011, Barry.

Get real Alexander. that does not wash and will not translate into an out vote.
Look at the history of referenda and you can see that.
Try to understand the issues, the most likely outcome is that you would doom us to stay in the EU.l

Barry, it's you who are saying we should stay in the EU.

No Alex - try to understand what I am actually saying. Read it slowly and carefully and then find out more about Switzerland. I want us out but your way will end up locking us in.

Barry, the EU will not accept a renegotiation, as it would open a can of worms. They'd rather we simple leave.

Alexander - they will renegotiate and if they don't and are obstructive then that will play into our hands too. I have said elsewhere, we need a positive not negative position to place before a poll, a new EFTA like arrangement.
