"The news of bin Laden's death interrupted this week's episode of 'Celebrity Apprentice.' Which begs the question, how do we kill bin Laden again next Sunday?" —Conan O'Brien
Unfortunately, as with any organisation, there will always be someone ready to take over, and not necessarily a nicer person either!
As other people have said, with Osama Bin Laden dead there is no cause for hostages to be taken, and with him buried at sea (if this report is correct) no grave to attract followers.
But, we should not lower ourselves to the point of dancing on the streets. There is a famous poem that says "No man is an island entire of itself" and goes on something like "Any man's death affects me, I am involved in mankind".

I thought of editing here the list of casualties for American soldiers in Iraq: 4,311 deaths, the vast majority after the end of the fall of Sadam Husein.
And 33,000 injured.
In Afghanistan, 1,566 American soldiers have died, number of injured not available.
The British media never reports on the deaths of American soldiers in Afghanistan, which I always find disturbing, and wonder if it has to do with an attempt to prevent the public opinion from having a more complete picture of the horror of the war in Afghanistan.
One would hope that, with the demise of Bin s... t Laden, the war in Afghanistan will be declared over, and the unnacceptable sacrificing of young lives in Gunistan will also end.
Surely they cannot go on just sacrificing young people to death in the name of a fake heroism???

Alex the American media do not mention British death either. Nor the Germans, Italians, Canadians, Dutch etc. who have also died.
Most Americans remain unaware of 7/7 too.

What is 7/7? Never heard of it!
As for the rest, that is no answer to my statement, that the British media categorically censor the casualties of other soldiers in Afghanistan so as to keep the public unaware of the awful entity of slaughter in Afghanistan.

The show what they think interests people. No conspiracy Alex.
7/7 - the London Transport bombings of a few years ago. Our equivilent of 9/11.
No fake heroism - what an insult saying that is to our troops. #45

I am astounded that Alexander has never heard of 7/7 it has been referred to as that in the media almost since day one.
I have changed my mind I am disgusted that someone who is always on about war dead is really so ignorant.

alex seems to be in his own bubble today, i posted about seat changes on the election thread and he replied with "no change there then".
Was he perhaps attempting a joke? One can never tell with Alexander!

Two possibilities. 1. It was a joke which he will later attribute to a senior moment or 2. A senior moment which he will later claim was a joke!

It's not an insult, Barry. The fake heroism is that which is impounded into soldiers and the public opinion from high, so that a war can go on, a war which is not ours and which cannot be won - ever!
The statement dows not refer to thye bravery of British and American soldiers, which I have never doubted. But I think you know this full well!
Thewre was no joke in my above posts. I thought Peter was referring to 9/11 and got mixed up. I know full well about the bombs that went off in London.
Just to let you know Jan, before you get too disgusted, anyone preaching terrorism doesn't get past me if I'm about, I had one such individual arrested in Dover last year!

Who is a clever boy then, did the "individual" get charged?.

I doubt if there is anyone in this country who does not know about the 7/7 bombings but you stated "What is 7/7? Never heard of it!" so my comment stands.

Marek and Jan, the indvidual was preaching in a public place Hosama Bin Laden, which he said about 5 times, and compared him to Mohamed the prophet.
A Durch national of Middle Eastern origin. That is no joke, especially if you have seen the scenes on TV about the bombs in London, or the New York attacks, and other attacks in the world.
Marek, would you kindly take back your smart-arse crack!
Jan, just because I refer to the bomb attacks in London as such, and not as 7/7, doesn't give you the right to smear me!
