Strange but true. Pakistani's are the main applicants for asylum to the UK after arriving AND having a visa issued abroad. (See also Indians and Bangladeshis)
Immigration stats to 30th June 2025 just out:
* The numbers in asylum hotels at 32,059 are 8% higher than that at the time of the election. This contrasts to the 9 months before the election when the Conservatives cut numbers in hotels by 47%, and reduced hotel numbers by around 200.
*The number of immigration removals has gone down from 13,829 in Q2 2024 to 12,354 in Q2 2025
* Illegal small boat arrivals this year are up 47% year on year, and 2025 so far is the worst year ever for crossings
The number of small boat arrivals who are removed has dropped to 5% in the last year
