Almost 900 small boat migrants crossed the Channel today amid chaotic scenes. Border Force was completely overwhelmed and had to call in five lifeboats to help. It comes just two days after the PM told Donald Trump he was making progress on illegal crossings.

Increasingly clear — as some of us suggested at the time — that Keir Starmer’s ‘smash the people-smugglers’ was just a convenient sound bite to get him through last summer’s election campaign.
More than 25,000 migrants have attempted to cross the Channel to the UK in small boats this year, reaching that totemic figure in record time.
On Wednesday, 898 migrants were detected crossing the Channel. It means 25,436 arrivals have been recorded since January 1, the earliest in the year that the 25,000 figure has been surpassed.
There have been 50 per cent more crossings so far this year, compared with the same period last year.
Instead of being smashed the people smugglers would appear to be having a smashing time.

I am sorry to say this but these continual posts on this subject is now getting increasingly tedious. They could possibly be part of the reason we get so few posts on more subjects where we might actually have an influence however small.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Hi Jan (and others),
Sorry you find the subject tedious. Going for five years now so doubt if my little tilt at windmills is having an influence on other posts.
Personally I believe the demographic change wrought in my memory is causing huge societal change leading directly to lack of trust in 'the Government' and the rise of votes for 'non of the above' single-issue parties be they Faragistas or the latest manifestation of the hard-left and their bands of useful idiots.
Tedious maybe but it's what's happening and it won't help singing kumbaya or that dreadful 'Imagine' song or closing your eyes, fingers in ears ans going 'Nah Nah Nah .... '
Long hot summer coming up.

I won’t stand for illegal workers who try to cheat our immigration system. It’s not fair on working people who play by the rules.
We’ve already arrested hundreds of delivery riders working illegally across the country.
We won’t stop there — we’ve invested £5 million to boost immigration enforcement teams.

Bournemouth has become one of the most criminal places in Britain, with a spate of high-profile rapes and murders, and anti-social behaviour worse than anywhere in Birmingham or Liverpool.
In my own case I have memories of going there as a four (?) year old and staying at the Linga Longa B&B, my parents having gone there on honeymoon after a night at the Strand Palace Hotel, London! (Too much information - Ed)

(I must admit that the mst suprising thing in the article was that Bournemouth apparenty has a 'University'!

Plagiarism is presenting someone else's work or ideas as your own, whether intentionally or unintentionally. It's a serious academic offense and a breach of academic integrity. Essentially, it involves using another person's language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions without proper attribution
