Hang on Howard, TDC seem to be doing very well actually, I've already apologised for the Folkestone error.
The two you mention are both councillors, they have come on here to defend their position, my assertion is their position is lame.
I have brought posts to the top which clearly show the hot air and promises from 4 years ago have not come to fruition, I'm simply pointing that out.

Brian, I'm off now and won't be on here for a few days. I started this thread 18 months ago out of frustration..........
I'm just sick of being fobbed off with the same old story.
Have a nice weekend.

david,as a footnote,i can take you from one end of town to the other and point out things that need doing, not just in the ditz area.

David, I have come on here, not to defend my position, but to defend Dover and Dover District Council from your unfair and unjustified criticisms.
Life is a bitch and Dover hasn't achieved its potential; there are parts of Dover that are awful and parts that are great - the same as most Towns and Cities in Britain.
Any Councillor, whether a Portfolio Holder or not, can only do so much; I fight for the ward I represent as much as I can, I also sit on a number of committees to help make good decisions for the District.

Unfair and unjustified - give me stength Roger, you've listed yourself things that have been talked about for years with nothing happening. You moan that DDC wont support a TCM, you cant have it both ways Roger, defend and attack in the same sentence.
You're spot on Dover hasn't reached its potential and the good people of the town know why.

calm down david you will get much better responses from members, particularly councillors by using a less aggressive approach.

As I have said many times before, Dover's problems are demographics, the population levels/makeup, the geography and lack of catchment area and it is going to take a long time to overcome them
The mesages from all these threads is DDC should stop trying to overcome these issue. Not really sure how that will benefit the town???
Been nice knowing you :)

David in case you haven't noticed we are in the midst of a recession nothing that has anything to do with building is happening, there is not a thing DDC can do about that. DUE LEGALITIES CAN TAKE YEARS (sorry to shout) so complain to those that have objected to the compulsory purchase.
I am sorry to have say this your posts are starting to really get on my nerves and it is time to let the "bees in your bonnet" go into hibernation as nature intends at this time of year.

Well theres a fair number of differing views.
I will pick up on a few;
1; Enjoy your weekend David
2; Peter; With regard to put up or shut up, maybe that's correct, although it should be recognised there are many volunteers
out there already making a difference to Dover, and Dover would be an even sadder place if we didn't have them.
3; Dover has problems, and passing through Folkestone streets each day seeing it packed in the town/seafront is sad
but I always live in hope that one day we will see the same in Dover.
4; I'm sure paulw would agree with scotchie on raising the council tax? but i'm afraid i have the alternative view at this point
Council tax is already far to high for a poor service it provides, and raising the council tax at this time, in this climate wont
help.

They will be allowed to raise it next year but only by a very small amount.

I would be happy to pay more council tax if I knew it was going to something specific in the town but not if it would just be swallowed up to pay some consultant.
