Started watching the football, half paced training match, flicked over and saw the Hump he was out of tune for a lot of the song so watched a recorded programme about Billinsgate Market. It centered around the scrapping of the Market bye laws which meant the traditional licenced porters jobs could be done by anyone, very interesting programme.

#80, quite agree Keith, I would put top footballers ahead of the bankers in Reg's Elite Greedy Pig list.

footballers don't run to the taxpayer when they do badly.
all they do is negotiate as high a wage and bonus package as they can, much the same as other workers.
The term Elite Greedy Pig, offensive as it is, has no implication of anything other than greed and piggery. Oh yes, and eliteness. And yes, the word does exist, clumsy as it sounds!

Neither do bank employees, it's the shareholders who get bailed out.

Maybe our future Eurovision performers and songwriters should get paid by how far up the winners list they come, nothing for last then increments for every place gained.
Engelbert would just about have earned his bus fare home this time.

He would have pocketed that then - he could use his bus pass!

i understand there is a reciprocal arrangement with azerbaijan and countries en route that would give mr humperdink free travel back home.
just a matter of him finding his fare back to california afterwards.

Could not help myself, I just had to find the original version of "lesbian Seagull" as recorded by Tom Wilson in the 70's.

Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

Superb!
And maybe we should adopt that as the alternative Dover song, at least there's likely to be some flying over the white cliffs whereas we know there's no bluebirds!
