ROGER;
With regard to VIC that is what i have been trying to tell him.
If he does have the support of the parish council/local whitfield electorate then fine, but from what im reading, speaking with people i know in whitfield, the proposal to build in whitfield hasbeen accepted by the population.
It's now about getting the best deal possible from any devel;oper that comes forward, and i'm sure the council/local people/cllrs all want this.

I have been talking to some of the residents and still can not find one that is for the development and I am told if it can be stoped at this late stage it would be good,so as I said the fight goes on.

It all depends who you speak to, a bit like opinion poles all depends on how the question is phrased and who is asked.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Vic, Whitfield is your area, you're Councillor there, people in Whitfield expect you to champion the cause.
You must fight on!
There was an uncompromising stance on the development scheme: what many thought was pie in the sky, 6,000 houses, came as a shock.
Now show 'em, Vic! No compromise should be the answer!

quite right the whole thing is done and dusted, whether the development is delayed or not makes no difference to the end result.

I dont wish to prolong this thread .I sit on the LDF group .Local Development Framework .Building in Whitfield has been accepted and passed .Members of Whitfield Action Group sit on that committee when Whitfield is discussed.Whitfield Parish Council are consulted .
THe growth Point for more houses has been accepted and passed .
What everyone has to do now is to ensure Whitfeild residents get the best deal
This is non political just providing information ..

Can you clarify as you sit on that group if the whitfield action group;
A; Have accepted defeat and going along with developement
B; Are still objecting to numbers being built or any developement
C; Share vics view

May-be River might seem more inviting to the developers, Sue, people could always change their mind you know

The D.D,C will always say there is a need for this amount of house,s why? because of the funding that goes into their pot for each house,I have said before if this developement does go ahead any funding from the developer must go to the parish council not the D.D.C or we will see what happen in Folkestone rd happing again,but this time there is alot more money to be got from it.

Exactly, Vic, DDC are aiming at the Council tax on each house and the revenues from new shops. That's the long and short of the so-called "development".
Most funding streams are already established and cannot be tinkered with, and to be honest I don't see the value in doing so.

the important money comes from growth point status which d.d.c. would not get without the development.
shops pay business rate that goes directly to the government not d.d.c.

You are missing a point here,as I said the developer is going to pay out a sum of money for each house that is put up,I have been told the amount,but because I can not back that up as being true I can not say what it is.
Let's not go down that "I know something you don't know" route again, Vic. Of course the developer will pay out money for developments. How much does it matter that we know the amount?

Sorry but I do not know if the amount is true or not,if I find out then I will tell you.

VIC;
That is nothing new, and all you had to say was the developer is putting an amount forward under the 106 agreement.
Does that mean then if he/she does your now supporting the developement.
confusing or what??
