Of course it is, just a little 'pointless' dig...
But still, might as well carry on in the manner you have set.
Just been reading how Osborne savaged the City Minister responsible for the banks at the time the scandal was going on. He was also the man who devised the failed banking regulation that allowed the banks off the kind scrutiny that may have prevented the scandal. The man savaged by Osborne was, of course, Ed Balls - prize hypocrite

First mention of Libor 28th June on elite greedy pigs..not just for our right winger but its worth a re-run on this thread because it will be bigger than Leveson....it is global...

The Libor interest rate fixing involves all banks.
Barclays are the first to be exposed.
Criminal proceedings should follow but will they?
Breaching the regulations goes back to 2005.
Heavy fines will be handed out and bonuses will be stopped but this activity is inexcusable and there should be a criminal
investigation.
Before a certain gentleman starts jumping up and down we all know why we bailed out the banks and bankers but they
really are the most unworthy recipients.

``Libor.
Head liner Cameron says ``People have to take responsibility for their actions---they must be accountable--it`s important
that it goes all the way to the top``( will he be consistant and include BSkyB ? )
Over 20 Banks are under investigation.
Treasury says ``What we hearing is that `everybody`was in it``Brokers and Hedge Funds will also be under review and
former Tory Treasure and Donor Micheal Spencer who runs a City Firm could also be dragged into the affair.
Icap have suspended one employee and put two more on `Garden Duty`
Serious Fraud Squad are involved.
£ 10 billion wiped off value of British Banks.
This one will run longer than Leveson and will see some behind bars.
The Blame game begins.``

I've got to do a research on this rate-fixing scandal, but my workload has been considerable and will be so this week too, and haven't got round to it yet.
This scandal promises to be something big, massive, that will have serious consequences.
Some months back, the Government promised prison for reckless bankers. But this goes beyond being reckless, it seems to be serious fraud on an industrial (banking) scale as never seen before.
It would appear that sophisticated rate-calculations that normal people cannot see through, have been rigged by some banks, who could see through them and figure out how to earn massive sums.
It looks like many people have been involved in the rigging, and the sums of money illegally garnered could be in the billions.
My belief is, that many bankers bonuses from years gone by may have to be coughed up and returned, if it can be proven that some banks have made illicit earnings.
Add to that any court-cases for serious fraud, and the many claims that will be made by people who feel they have been cheated, and perhaps this time round we will see a collapse of the merry-go-round system of chair-executive bonus-grabbers, as these will not be able to claim "I didn't know"!

Now that Bob Diamond has resigned with immediate effect, we shall have the unedifying spectacle of all his subordinates blaming the ex-boss in an attempt to absolve themselves.
But I'm sure that these guys still think that the only commandment they broke was the 11th - Thou Shalt Not Get Caught.

Three cheers for the readers of the Daily Telegraph...
"Big Bang banking
SIR - When I joined Barclays (Letters, July 2) in the late Sixties, I signed up to a culture of rigid compliance. A formal dress code, obligatory banking exams, a job-evaluation system to grade our worth, an established career-path and an internal inspection unit that ruthlessly supervised every aspect. From the most junior clerk to the most senior manager, we all complied.
However, the deregulation of the 1986 Big Bang, and the rush for diversification, dramatically changed this culture. This power of persuasive selling, which had been anathema to traditional bankers, was now a new force driving Barclays' profitability.
Barclays has switched from a culture of rigid caution to become an organisation of market-led entrepreneurs. Sadly, it has betrayed the principles of integrity upon which the bank was built.

Who was it that made such a show of the Big-Bang? Not Brown or Balls as I recall.
