#30 How sweet of you Paul, I take it all as a compliment! Actually it is quite amusing, you see when you were in charge people like me and Steve, Liz and so many others at the time, were all booted off because we did not hold the same view as you. It may be that Chris and Howard are completely fed up with me too. They haven't said so, and certainly Chris knows me well enough to pick up the phone if he feels the need, I don't particularly want to upset him. I love it that after all that has been said, you find it acceptable to find the time to make a personal attack towards me!

A marvellous irony!
Fact one. I asked for David to be reinstated. The forum ran with it.
Fact two. No emails to me from Chris or Howard asking me to stop the campaign.
Fact three. I do post on other subjects if I know anything about them that might be useful, or if the subject is of interest. I do not post if the subject causes me a professional conflict.
Fact four. Although a general statement has been given, nothing specific as to why David was banned has been given.
Now, I appreciate he writes as he speaks and this can come across harshly sometimes. I have given all sorts of narrative on this subject talking about holding politicians to account, but now that the ice seems to have broken, maybe this will indeed go away.
Peter makes a good point.

no bunkers involved peter, chris and myself have given our views prior to the intervention of paul this morning.
simon, you talk of holding politicians to account, there are avenues for this. councillors full details are available on the websites of both the town and district councils, failing that a phone call or letter to either will get this information.
of course councillors get questions asked of them on the forum but in a normal polite manner, relentless onslaughts are not acceptable.
anyone who is a member here is entitled to be protected from aggressive posts irrespective of whether they are a politician, business person or just a member of the public like me.

#43, Keith, Er, because we haven't been provided with them. We can only judge based on what they choose to reveal. So in a nutshell, we are being told to mind our own business because Big Brother knows best. Sorry but I am in favour of complete openness and we are just not seeing It. By setting up a forum the owners are accepting a moral responsibility towards all users, not just those of a delicate nature, or who are pillars of the community. We are all intelligent people who do not appreciate the mushroom treatment.

This place is long overdue some fun and light-heartedness and positivity !!
The town has just been awarded a MILLION POUNDS and nearly everyone here can have a say on how it could be spend, why not actually do something that will better the town? 48 postings ?
Amnesty? I am actually thinking of closing my account because as much as some people try I don't think the majority are actually interested in the good stuff the area and the efforts people are putting in, just seems like a place to moan and knock every opportunity

Been nice knowing you :)

Paul #45, I am sure most if not all are interested in the good stuff and we say so whenever possible. Until we know about prospective groups that will get a part of the million pounds and what it will be spent on there is not much we can discuss.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

It is a total tragedy, one man sitting at home, Christmas ruined, people shunning him in the street, the butt of distateful jokes in the pub, even Santa has left a note saying "no presents this year", the unbelievable shame of it all and what did he do, he said something about somebody on a forum and got himself banned.
My God in the words of a well-known character "I don't belieeeeve it", you actually couldn't make it up.
To the persons who have allegedy been verbally attacked on here, get a bloody life, you've lived in a bubble too long and lost track, post 45 sums it up well.
Now if I'm about to be banned just after my posting perhaps the moderator just say "MODERATOR, TONE DOWN YOUR POSTINGS"
Said my piece, its over.

I used to love this forum; it had a real 'family' feel to it. Like family there was the odd falling out, but that's all it was. A week later A and B would be happily putting the world to rights again and it was all forgotten.
I don't post on here that often now because every time I log on apart from a bit of interesting history, some nice photos etc, there is thread after bickering thread. I don't want to get involved in all that so I'm finding less and less things to post on.
The moderators have a thankless task to do and I wouldn't want their job for one minute, but I think some people come here with the sole purpose of getting banned and hoping for a 'bring back so and so thread' like it's some kind of kudos. All it reminds me is of the playground in junior school, I thought we'd left that all behind?
We need to remember what we post on forums hangs around long after the thread has been buried on the bottom of the pile and can come back and potentially haunt us - just something to bear in mind. That's all I am saying on the subject. I sincerely hope that in the light of Christmas and the New Year we can all try to get along a little better and be more respectful of others. An opinion is one thing, a downright character assisanation is quite another!
On that happy note I will bid you all the best for Christmas and a happy, healthy and safe New Year.
