Vic's operation yesterday went well and the worries he had about losing his leg have gone - it ended up as a straightforward knee replacement after all, so Lesley's saving up all the odd socks has come to naught!

Thought you might want to put something up on the forum about it.

Seriously, I am glad everything went well. Friends who have had a knee replacement wish they had had it done years before.

That must be one of the most important things that Vic must take notice of Howard - rest.

Get well soon Vic. Resign from all those Parish Councils and take it easy; I'm sure Lesley would appreciate that too.

He will if he wants the knee to mend properly but I am not sure about the quietly.

I just had a chat with Vic on the phone. All did not go as planned with the operation, they have discovered a nasty infection in the joint; although the new knee is now in place they have had to insert steel rods to keep it stable and he is splinted up like an oven-ready chicken. He is on powerful antibiotics but the wound refuses to heal and is still bleeding a lot.

But you know Vic, he is still cheerful and still bending my ear about the Peoples' Port! He has started muttering darkly about holding referenda in the parishes where he sits on the council.
